Kerry Vows To Restore Truth to the Presidency

ALBUQUERQUE, July 10 -- President Bush has governed in a dishonest fashion, trampling values on every issue except fighting terrorism and leaving voters "clamoring for restoration of credibility and trust in the White House again," John F. Kerry and John Edwards said in an interview.

"The value of truth is one of the most central values in America, and this administration has violated" it, Kerry said in an interview with The Washington Post aboard the Democrats' campaign plane Friday. "Their values system is distorted and not based on truth."

The Democratic nominee and his running mate said it was that kind of anger toward the president that prompted entertainers at Thursday's Democratic fundraising concert in New York to attack Bush as a "cheap thug" and a killer. "Obviously some performers, in my judgment and John's, stepped over a line neither of us believes appropriate, but we can't control that," Kerry said. "On the other hand, we understand the anger, we understand the frustration."

Edwards said scathing anti-Bush attacks such as the concert and Michael Moore's new film "Fahrenheit 9/11" reflect an "expression by folks with genuine feelings," adding, "Thank goodness in our country they have a right to express those feelings."

In one of a series of interviews since teaming up on Tuesday, Kerry and Edwards predicted they would win the political fight over which party best exemplifies the values and ethics of most Americans, but Kerry said they would wage that battle on their terms and not what he called the Republican Party's "little political, hot-button, cultural, wedge-driven, poll-driven values."

With their ties loosened and shoes kicked off, the Democratic duo also vowed to forgo negative advertising in this presidential campaign -- an assertion that draws scoffs from Republicans who note that independent Democratic groups have pounded the president with millions of dollars in negative ads.

Apparently the Bush admin has been misleading the American people about certain things? I honestly didn't know...

Then why didn't they rebuke them rahter than standing idly by?

you mean like have secruity drag the performers off stage or something?

That's exactly what he means. There should have obviously been big, burly men with long canes on the side of the stage. There should also have been a gong. This is exactly why Kerry/Edwards is not right for our country.

I think there should be more indignation against all the morons who support Bush. Don't they know their places?

My grandfather was very old fashioned. He used to say never trust a woman who dies their hair. If they'll lie about something small like hair color they'll lie about anything. ( obviously before people stopped caring whether people knew the colors were artificial)

JOHN KERRY LIES ABOUT HIS HAIR!

😉

On a side note I believe Kerry is at least as dishonest as people believe Bush is. He's kind of like US born euro trash 🙂

Kerry should don a cape and a mask and run as Batman!

Sure, and one of his campaign slogans can be, "This town needs an enema!" I'd still vote Libertarian but it would be nice to see 🙂

He could've said something even more corny like, oh I don't know, restoring honor to the White House or something. 😉

i love how the rep. like to compare kerry's lies to bush's. it's not like kerry started a war under false premises and sent hundreds of innocent iraqi's and US soldier's to their deaths. apples to oranges.

Please, guys, Dubya has demonstrably lied about almost everything in pursuit of an uber-right agenda that nobody but his fanbois want...

And I doubt that even they would be happy with it if it actually came to pass...

Start with the "Restore honor and dignity to the Whitehouse" bit...

And then there's the "Uniter not a Divider" routine...

Any politician not on a mission from God would be unbeatable in this midterm, given the greatest political windfall since pearl harbor.... The Bush Team has squandered that in pursuit of their feed the rich, loot the govt, Christian Reconstructionist, cover it all in fearmongering and obfuscation agenda...

Telling the truth is when you take the advice of the scientists over the advice of the fundie fringe in matters of public health...

Telling the truth is when you accurately represent the price of a new program, rather than suppressing the truth- Senior Drug "benefit", anyone?

Telling the truth is when you make a case for war on the basis of factual information, rather than innuendo and suspicion.

Telling the truth doesn't have anything to do with cutting taxes and borrowing more at the same time...

Telling the truth doesn't have anything to do with "no child left behind", "healthy forests", "clear air initiative", NMD, "Faith based intitiatives", "abstinence only" sex-ed, or Gay-bashing constitutional amendments... or with outing CIA operatives as political revenge...

Or have we descended so far into the depths of doublespeak that this stuff really seems to make sense to those properly indoctrinated?
