Kerry Supporters: A question for you

shiner

Lifer
Let's say Kerry wins the election. Who would you like to see in his Cabinet? Just curious what Kerry supporters think his Cabinet would look like.

At this point, I'd like to see a good mix of liberal and conservative Democrats plus even a few Republicans. Variety is the spice of life. Plus, look what happens when you install yes-men(women) loyalists into the fold.

Holbrooke is shaping up to be a Sec'y of State but I think Biden would do wonderfully there (but that would take a key Democrat out of the Senate.)

Rubin could be the Sec'y of Treasury.

I'd like to see Gen. Clark as Sec'y of Defense but I'm not sure if he's eligible.

Perhaps Rand Beers as head of DHS.

I'd like to see the woman who got fired for her Kerry bumper sticker as Sec of Labor. 😉

Wonder if McCain would server as Sec of Defense?

The GOP would FREAK if they lost a Republican Senator.

I have to agree with conjur about clark. I would like to see clark in the cabinet as sec of defense or state. He is a bright hard-working guy with lots of experience. Probably has alot of respect outside of the US as well since he was the NATO Comander. Might help with negotiations.

Darkhawk is right as well. We need people in the cabinet that are going to challenge and complement the president not folks that are just going to be yesmen. Id like to see someone with some good business sense in there and start running the government like it was he own small business. Cut costs and increase efficieny.

Your best shot for that was Perot. Until he went looney of course.

Hehe, maybe so. But the idea was still a rational one.

This is what I posted about Cabinet choices on Friday:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a super-slim, but real possibility that if Kerry were to win he could choose Powell as the person to fullfill some office -
who would actually be a better Secretary of Defense, Powell or Rumsfeld ?
I think Bush had these two backwards all along.

But . . . .Kerry could return to the Politics of Yore - (Pre Gingritch) where there really was co-operation,
and bipartisan really was something. There were many past Presidents that appointed people from
the opposing party to high office simply because they were the best man for the job.

Would Kerry consider Powell for this position ? How about Wesley Clark or General Eric Shinseki,
Tommy Franks ? Lot of much more capable men than Rumsfeld - in either party, if games that are
being played are stopped.

Business cuts costs by laying people off, exporting jobs to cheap labor areas, cutting employee health care and other benefits, and cutting the quality of their products.

Do you really want your government ran like that?

Powell almost certainly should have have been Sec. of Defense.

I haven't given this a lot of thought yet, but two names come to mind immediately: Howard Dean for Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Max Cleland for Secretary of Veterans Affairs. At this point though, I could easily change my mind.

Isn't that what Bush is already doing ?

The last was appointed by Clinton - William Cohen - after Perry departed.

and Karl Rove can run the Hoover over the Oval office

I don't know about the cabinet, except I would hate to be listening to Joe Biden for 4 years. Oucheeeeee! I cannot stand that jackass. Holbrooke is infinitely better anyway, in my view.

But, I think Kerry would do well to form a commission to look at ways to streamline the government. This has been done before, but not with much success. Perot would be a good person to be on that commission or even head it. I don't think he's that whacked out that he can't make a meaningful contribution. I kind of admired the little fuscker. 🙂

I swear if Powell is put in a Kerry administration I'll write in Nader the rest of my life. 🙂

Powell is a quisling. An American TRAITOR.

If Al were one of the Supremes that place would be rockin'! 🙂

I'm not sure what that would mean for the level of discourse though. 🙂

(j/k)

I would rather have Bush than that,

Well, I wouldn't go that far, but I'd have a hard time accept Sharpton in one of those roles.
