Kerry Pulls Campaign Ads From Four States

We'll probably see the DNC start taking advantage of the same loophole as the RNC and then DNC ads will be run in those states.

Kerry spent about $15 million in the four states, half of it in Missouri, trying to put them in play.

Ouch...

Oh well, I wonder which states he pulls ads from next?

Haven't seen a single Kerry ad here in Oklahoma. Then again it would be a waste for him to run them here. If I remember correctly Oklahoma has gone Republican in every Presidential election since Eisenhower.

Just as the Dub should pull his ads from CA and Mass as the Electoral College renders any vote for him in those two states as worthless.

GWB is crushing Kerry by double digits here in Ohio. This state will be the next to go from Kerry's "in play" list.

On the other hand, a lot of states that shouldn't be in play are, like Minnesota and New Jersey, where the gap between Bush and Kerry is very small.

It embarasses me as an American that we spend so much on electing officials when there are so many social needs that will go without attention or funding in the coming years. That goes for both sides.

Whatever. Most of it is private money, being offered up by billionaires like George Soros.

Say what? Bush does not have a double digit lead in Ohio my friend. From several of the last polls I have seen, Bush only has a 2-5 point lead. Hardly something that would make Kerry pull his ads from the Buckeye State.

I think Kerry's given up in AZ. Theresa was in AZ yesterday campaigning. However, in a news interview, the reporter mentioned that Kerry was behind in AZ polls. Her response was, "So what?! It's only 1 state."

What a great way to gain AZ votes!

The Arizona electorate is a strange beast. I have come to the conclusion that nobody who works for a living has time to vote, only the retired folks vote. I live in Tucson, and time after time, measures to build roads are voted down. We have a bad traffic situation, and I can't believe that anybody who has to commute through the mess would vote against freeways. The only people who vote are those who have nothing better to do than sit in traffic. But maybe this election will bring ome working folks out to the polls.

It's not a 'loophole', conjur, it's the First Amendment! :disgust: With the exception of ads containing libel or slander (which has never had Constitutional protection), I see no reason to suppress political speech. But maybe you do, so please enlighten us!

Exactly. People should be able to give their own (private) money to candidates and parties in whatever quantities they choose. Of course, all donations should be of public record. Soros should be permitted to give millions, the people should be permitted to know about it, and let all vote accordingly.

I'm pretty sure Arizona is pretty well off right now, many people from California got sick of cali and moved there, tons of jobs and good economy last time i checked.

For a democrat to even be challenged in MN he has to really be running a bad campaign.

I think when Reagan won in a landslide there was like 2 states who voted Mondale. One of them was MN.

Huh? That state I think in the end is going to go Kerry. The job situation there is terrible. And that state has been directly affected in a major way due to outsourcing. There is report out today that Cleveland is the poorest big city. Cleveland

Look at the linear fit... The gap is about 7-8% - not double digits, but a hefty lead, and projected to get much bigger.

At least she didn't tell them to go around naked for awhile. 🙂

Well Kerry is doing very well in Florida so it could make Ohio a moot point. He's got to make up ground in some more battleground states if he wants to win this. If he can take Penn. and Florida he'll have a damn good shot.

now, let me ask a very legit question. If Kerry is really only behind 1% in Arizona like it says in the Zogby poll, why would he pull all his ads? Obviously the zogby polls arent correct and the Kerry campaign has its own internal polls showing him losing there and losing big enough that he probably wont be able to come back. Zogby has nearly every state for kerry while the rest of the polls have nearly all the battleground states for bush.

I believe he means a loophole in campaign finance reform -- which it is.

Sadly a few thousand here and a few million there is often compounded by corporations (and individuals) into BILLIONS of public dollars going into the trough for various organizations. There's NEVER been a better friend to the defense, fossil fuel extraction, pharmaceutical, and energy production industries than the Bush Regime. I wonder if any of those industries have ever given campaign contributions . . .

I have an idea where he pulled it out of.

You don't want to go there... 😉
