Emulating the conduct of our enemies
I'm not aware of any beheading that the U.S. military is conducting....there is NO MORAL EQUIVALENCE in the actions of our military and the terrorists....your just delusional if you believe that.

wrong doing was committed
it is being investigated
people will be punished
we have denounced this abberant behavior

we do not teach this behavior to our children
we do not recruit people to behave this way
we do not scream "God is Great" and behead people.

explain to me once again how this can remotely be called "emulating" the behavior of our enemies...

the fact of the matter is the court martials were going forward prior to the release of the photos so its nothing more than a far fetched conspiracy theory when you commie libs talk about how this is a ploy to brush this incident under the rug. but im sure you commie-libs know how this situation should have been handled better than the people that are actually privy to the facts

i also find it disturbing that kerry speaks out about these prison abuse photos but wont speak out about the beheading - or did he finally say something???

No moral equivalence... to Saddam's regime? Amazing how quickly the whole rationale shifts from "Saddam the evil torturer" to "Terrarists!" in the blink of an eye, even though there exists no demonstrable link between 9/11 and the former Iraqi regime, other than in Bushian propaganda... Tens of thousands held, degraded, abused in the name of freedom- without charge or due process, without notification of their families, without outside contact. And our leaders will keep right on doing it, with directions from the highest levels of power, just as soon as the furor dies down. Business as usual, just part of the process, the ends justify the means- our ends, anyway, not anybody else's...

We created the lawless circumstances in Iraq that allow terrorists to operate. We alienate the population with our arrogance and ignorance. We brought the WoT with us, to a place where it didn't previously exist. Our leaders can't see the forest for the trees, squandering strategic goals for tactical advantage- and neither can you, Heartsurgeon, apparently owing to a pathological condition of denial-

No moral equivalence... to Saddam's regime?
Why do liberals loathe themselves and this country so much?

there exists no demonstrable link between 9/11 and the former Iraqi regime,
Oh please, spewing out this lie over and over again doesn't make it come true..

your just nuts if you think that there is ANY equivalence between Saddam and what we are doing.
Your buddy averaged 50,000 killed per year for each of the 20 years he was in power.

i'm guessing you support PETA!

Prove a link between Al Qaeda and Saddam. Go ahead. We're all waiting anxiously!!

Oh, and 50,000 dead per year? Not quite. Most estimates are at about 300,000 over his 20+ year reign. The average is more like 11-12,000...about the same # of civilians killed in the last year due to Bush's war on Iraq.

wake up!!

Kerry is hoping that the "investigation" can be dragged out (at least until November!) so as to maximize the political damage the Dems can "milk" from it.

If a court martial takes place...oops, its all over..someone gets blamed, punished, and the public moves on and loses interest in the topic (frankly, nobody carried anymore the moment the Berg atroctity became public knowledge). ...
You are both exactly right and exactly backwards. Rather than Kerry "hoping" the investigation can be dragged out, it's really a case of Bush [i[fearing[/i] the investigation will drag out. Bush needs this wrapped up quickly, well before the election. More importantly, however, he needs it wrapped up quickly before somone publicizes evidence the problem was higher up the chain of command.

Bush needs low-level scapegoats NOW, not a complete investigation later. He needs this thing swept under the rug before there is wider recognition it was yet another example of his incompetent execution of his crusade against Iraq.

We loathe scum who hide behind this country's name and their phony patriotism to excuse their vile actions.

That is an extraordinarily ignorant and/or dishonest comment, even by your standards. Even your feckless figurehead, King George himself, reluctantly acknowledged there was no link between Iraq and 9/11. For you to keep spewing this lie over and over again will never make it come true, no matter how badly you wish to delude yourself.

Move on, for God's sake.

Forget it, Bowfinger- as I said earlier, what we're witnessing is a pathological condition of denial. The day Hearsurgeon questions his own moral certitude is the day his whole sand castle belief structure will crumble.

Granted it wasn't nice to be a participant, but what's with all the fuss about these iraqis being abused? The arabs need something like this. They are far too conservative and a few human pyramids doesn't hurt anybody. In a couple of years or decades, when the arabs have reached the point of enlightenment (of which all societies go through) and consider religion cosmopolitan, they will find these pictures comedic. If anything, they need this (good laughs).

IMHO, it's better than my gf, some friends and I sitting down at an open-air cafe drinking overpriced coffee and having a crazy Islamic loonie with C4 strapped around his waist, running towards the restaurant screaming "al-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-al-al-ah."

Thta is Funny Czech Intelligence has documented Mohammad Attah (the Leader) meeting with Iraqi Military Intelligence 2 years before 9/11 in Prague. then again in Germany I believe.

Saddam did support Terrorism in Isreal thet is documented as well paying $25K to suicide bombers familys for their kids acts of terror.

That's right, EXman, drag out that old saw, thoroughly discredited, about a mysterious non-confirmed meeting, once, in Prague...

http://csf.colorado.edu/envtecsoc/2002/msg00601.html

The Israelis? they have their own set of self-induced problems with terrorists, but this invasion wasn't about Israel, right? Given excrable attitudes like Dari's, it's small wonder they don't have more problems.

But that's really not central to the issue, anyway. Are we willing to become what we loathe in order to defend principles we gave up when we assumed that role? Even though the answer was "NO" thirty years ago in Vietnam, our leaders can't seem to remember... maybe that's because they weren't exactly "involved" at the time... With any luck at all, the answer is still the same, and will remain so.

Edit- Sp....

You have to forgive Exman. He's really rather new to the world of news. My guess is he just got some email the other day full of GOP talking points that were debunked months ago and is just going through them one by one.
