John Kerry and John Edwards' plan to build a stronger economy will:

Create Good-Paying Jobs
As president, John Kerry will cut taxes for businesses that create jobs here in America instead of moving them overseas. John Kerry and John Edwards will also stand up for workers by enforcing our trade agreements.

Cut Middle-Class Taxes To Raise Middle-Class Incomes
When John Kerry is president, middle-class taxes will go down. Ninety-eight percent of all Americans and 99 percent of American businesses will get a tax cut under the Kerry-Edwards plan.

Make Washington Live Within A Budget
John Kerry will cut the deficit in half during his first four years in office. He will end corporate welfare as we know it, roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, and impose a real cap to keep spending in check. And when John Kerry puts forward a new idea, he'll tell you how he's going to pay for it.

Invest In The Jobs Of Tomorrow
Today, businesses are harnessing new technology to manufacture energy-efficient cars, high-grade steel, advanced plastics and other new products. And this requires a bigger, skilled labor force to make them. John Kerry and John Edwards believe we should invest in these jobs and invest in the people who will fill them.

Let?s go over their plan:

Create Good-Paying Jobs
As president, John Kerry will cut taxes for businesses that create jobs here in America instead of moving them overseas. John Kerry and John Edwards will also stand up for workers by enforcing our trade agreements.

- I thought cutting taxes to improve the economy is a bad idea. He called President Bush ?irresponsible? for cutting taxes. What trade agreements are not being enforced? Do they plan to control free trade?

When John Kerry is president, middle-class taxes will go down. Ninety-eight percent of all Americans and 99 percent of American businesses will get a tax cut under the Kerry-Edwards plan.

- 100% - 98% = 2% of middle class taxpayers to make up the difference
- 100% - 99% = 1% of American business to make up the difference
How will the Federal government generate enough revenue to support it? Will the upper-class and big American businesses support all of us?

- I thought it was the job of congress to approve the budget. Is Kerry planning to pass the budget without congressional approval?
- Collect more taxes from taxes wealthy? The wealthy provide mortgage and capital monies for the middle class. Why take this money out of reach for those that want to get ahead?
- So far their plan is to tax the rich, give some back to the poor, and let the middle class go away.

- New technology like backhoes, CNC controlled machines, robots, and computers have already taken it?s toll on ditch diggers, machinists, laborers, and clerical people. Why promote additional technology that will further erode jobs?
- Advanced materials mean higher cost but longer life span. Why promote products that do not need replacing? The longer a product lasts, the less frequently they need replaced, this decreases demand and that means less need for production (fewer jobs).
- They plan on investing in jobs and the people. How will they do this? Government paid training and subsidies? What about cutting the deficit they claim they will do? Will he upper-class and big business pays for this also?

and increase taxes by 200%

So you prefer the Bush administration's approach of spending more money than any White House in US history, while simultaneously cutting taxes, to pawn off the debt on our children?

Ninety-eight percent of all Americans... will get a tax cut under the Kerry-Edwards plan.
what tax are they planning on cutting? 98% of americans don't pay income taxes. 98% of american families don't pay income taxes either. maybe it's supposed to read 98% of american families that pay income taxes will get a tax cut. the only tax a lof of families pay is the two payroll taxes. and i assume that he isn't going to cut medicare/caid/SS taxes (which have never been cut, keep going up, and are larger in legal burden for ~half of US families)

as for the 'low paying jobs' argument, factcheck has already debunked that (see sig)

Is Kerry not doing the same?

No cutting taxes on the rich is a bad idea for improving the economy. We need people to buy stuff, not peopel to stick more money in the bank.

Yes, the top 2% will make up the difference. We aren't talking huge taxe cuts here, maybe 1-2%, or about $100 billion dollars (rough guess), which is about the same, maybe a little less than the various tax cuts for the uber-rich over the last 4 years. (estate tax, capitial gains(?), income tax cuts)

1) Congress creates the budget, the president approves it.
2) most capital simply goes back into the hands of the top. Poor people don't get BIG loans, the have no collateral. Also, as it is there is too much capital out there for the current state of the economy. That is part of why interest rates are so low. Finally I bet the average person would rather have an extra $500 a year than a hypothetically slightly lower rate mortage.
3)

"Why promote products that do not need replacing?" <---- dumb question.
