What does that have to do with the price of butter? Gears of War 4 is a masterfully optimized DX12 title because of how it runs and the way it exploits the features of modern GPUs.. Much like Quantum Break being a steaming pile of garbage because of how it runs.

How can you say its a masterfully optimized DX12 title when there is no DX11 version to compare performance. btw what are the DX12 features it exploits.

The link that states that you can not compare their DX11 and DX12 Results??

https://forums.anandtech.com/thread...-drivers-353-376.2497059/page-3#post-38688950

That's 3 times I've told you that the site itself says not to compare their DX11 and DX12 results.

Also why do you never post the source and just post images? You afraid people will read the reviews?:(

What on Earth are you talking about? Those images came from GameGPU, not hardwarecanucks

Also, the game we are discussing is Total War Warhammer and not AotS!!

How can GoW4 be well optimized DX12 game that increases performance when there is no baseline DX11 to compare it against? What increase do you see with GoW4? o_O

I said that the game is well optimized, which is apparent to anyone that has played it. So you're telling me I need to have two separate rendering paths to judge whether a game is optimized or not? Give me a break.. I don't need to see a DX11 port of Forza Horizon 3 to know that the DX12 version wasn't well optimized.

A poorly optimized game is a poorly optimized game, and it shows by how the game runs.

Read my reply to Bacon1. A game that is well optimized is as self evident, as one that is poorly optimized. We discuss the optimization of games all the time on these forums, and nowhere has anyone ever said that you need multiple API support to determine the level of optimization.

Also, stop misreading my words. I never said DX12 features, I said modern GPU features. And to be specific, I was referring to asynchronous compute, dynamic resolution scaling and tiled resources.

He linked to HWC. I was talking about the same links you quoted and then specifically mentioned which I quoted.

We don't know how GameGPU gets their DX11 and DX12 #s, but we do know that you can't directly compare FRAPs vs PresentMon vs Action or anything else that records FPS because they all do so differently. o_O

I said that the game is well optimized

You specifically said:

along with Gears of War 4 represent what well optimized DX12 titles should be like where both Radeons and NVidia GPUs increase performance from DX12, rather than suffering.

"increases performance from DX12, rather than suffering."

Which means you need something as the baseline, or there is no actual increase. GoW4 has no baseline DX11 / OpenGL or any other API to compare against.

There are plenty of well optimized DX11 games, so if there is no increase it makes zero sense to include GoW4 in the discussion at all.

Do try to follow the conversation. He did link to HWC, and then I told him that I wasn't just talking about the RX 480 and the GTX 1060, but the entire AMD and NVidia lineup. Anyway, the spread between DX11 and DX12 in TWW for NVidia has always been fairly large from most benchmarks I've seen.

Indeed, yet there are very few well optimized DX12 games. Gears of War 4 on the other hand, is definitely one of them and as I stated earlier, you don't need a comparison with a DX11 version to see that as it is self evident. Gears of War 4 is perhaps the most optimized title I've ever played in fact, and I base this on how it uses PC hardware and how it performs.

Gears of War 4 is the first game I've ever seen that uses tiled resources, something which has been available to devs since DX11.2.

So it's a great DX11.2 game? Still not seeing how there was any increased performance because this used DX12 according to you.

Amazing that you've ignored the fact that you've tried to compare results when the site that created those results specifically said not to compare them and have ignored what developers specifically said and instead go with your opinion of what you think happened and try to state it as fact. It's pointless trying to argue these points with you because facts don't matter to you, but I don't want your lies and falsehoods to spread on these forums.
