I bought these three weeks ago for $399 & have been quite happy with them, now I just need to find a way to get them for $299.

BTW, do yourself a favor & buy a roll of good speaker wire, the stuff that comes with it is crap.

[EDIT]Looks like you can no longer order them online, B&M may still have them. I'll be checking tonight since I need to find a way to get that rebate.[/EDIT]

i basically have the same exact system but i got mine about 2 -3 years ago for $400 i think. for this price, this deal is HOT! if i was still working full time, i would probably buy one for my bedroom. my only complaint is that there is only one digital audio in and no component video in/out

I can see three digital inputs, 2 via dig. coax and 1 via optical. Plus if your broke, what do you need component inputs for? Do you have HDTV?

By the way this seems like a pretty decent deal, I got my Sony 485 for $150 from Good Guys and a 5.1 KLH setup for $200 with my xbox it sounds great, this is a good deal though for an all in one package and would be perfect for small-medium rooms.

Wow, 23k posts? That's alot how long have you been here?

Only 2 S-Video In... This would be alright for a small room for someone who wanted it just for audio.

You do realize Svideo is subpar to composite (with high quality cables) right?

And if not check out avsforum

I think this is a very good deal @ $299. Obviously you're not going to get the same quality sound as if you spent a lot more on a separate receiver and speaker setup, but Kenwood's HTIBs are fairly well regarded. This would be great for a bedroom/dorm room etc. or as an entry level setup.

Also thought I'd note that if you have an HDTV or high-quality digital TV, passing the video signals through your receiver is probably not a great idea, particularly component video signals. You need a certain amount of video switching bandwidth to avoid picture degradation. Many higher-end receivers can accommodate this, but this receiver can't. I'd connect component video signals directly to the TV if possible.

Here are some reviews at Epinions and AudioReview.

You mean component video. Composite is just a single RCA cable.

Composite < S-Video < Component Video.

No, I mean component.

Component < Svideo in a sitiuation where highend cable is used, ie home made canare coax cable with RCA connectors (this does have a $200 startup cost but the ability to make the cables allows things to be cheaper in the future.)

Obviously component (I said composite before the edit) is ideal by the way, if you have HDTV, I don't but I have seen the difference on a plasma, it's impressive.

Did i miss something about your post S13SilviaK, can you provide a link that says Svideo is better then component and that

How the heck can composite be the way to go, it is the lowest quality cable isn't it?

Sorry I meant component is ideal. And as far as composite vs svideo check out avsforum, people who have compared a top of the line Svideo cable with a homemade canare cable have time and time again said that the composite cable comes out on top.

I have seen it myself on my own tv.

This is how I see it so as to set things straight.

Using high quality cables, when I say high quality I mean $50/meter w/connectors if bought at a boutique store (this does not mean MonsterCrap Cable.)

Component<Composite<Svideo

Svideo is better than composite using average cables but with high end cable your better off with the composite.

Really? And how do you know this? Did I ever say I bought the "boutique" cables? I make my own cables using canre coax, with canare rca connectors, the whol cable for 1 meter lengths cost me about $10 to make, but you see them regularly online, and on in boutiques begine sold for $50/meter or even $50/ft.

But obviously you know what your talking about so the above shouldn't need to be said, right?

Ditto. I beg you to find conclusive evidence that "boutique" interconnects work any better than regular interconnects. Bubbye.

Funny how both sites sponsor the same HTF cruise? Seems like both are pretty tight. LOL.

Bro, there is NO conclusive evidence of any sort on either the HTF or the AVS forum. Go ahead and post a new thread on both and see the flamewar you start. Those with grandiose claims of "hearing" better quality will come out of the woodwork. Those looking for hard evidence of improvement will slam them in retort. It's just funny that you call Monster "garbage" when Monster, and all of the others perform the same. You just have to pick your price and buy a cable.

Anyway, this Kenwood system is a steal at $299.

Just got back from a BB in GA. It's $399 with NO REBATE in the stores. I think they closed the ordering online because the rebate came out 2 days early. I suspect that system is going to be $449 - $100 = $349 next week or so, but they mistankenly posted the rebate online earlier.

A lot of those orders will probably be canceled; of couse, the lucky will always get their order, and the unlucky (me) never gets anything. :(
