Intel has this nasty habit that leaks out engineering samples which are clocking way higher than retail products. If you read the AT C2D review, Anand clocked his Conroe up to 3.6GHz @stock Vcore and 4.0GHz with just air-cooling. This was uniformly the case for all the samples he used. (E6600, E6700, X6800)

well part of it is that people are trying to overclock that dont know what they are doing. I saw alot of people getting 4G on Core2 processors at XS before they were released. But they were using open cases with the most expensive air coolers you can buy. Obviously a normal overclocker wont be doing that, and also wont have the best motherboard and power supply for the rock solid voltage.

bingo, their marketing is pretty good.

and no i have batch # L624A264 conroe, i checked with PCC2iminal in xs (if u read hes post u know hes a good bencher) he was only able to get the same E6400 L624A264 to 3.4GHz and thats it

so no i dont think its my skill, or anything , the chip is pure crap., and no amtter how much vcore vmch u add it just wont get any higher.

and lets sese i have a modded bigtyphoon and open case comp, so yeah for cooling i think im good

Anybody that thinks ES chips shipped to reviewers aren't cherry picked must be smokin the good stuff:) And all companies do it, I remember the first x2 4800 sceenshots I saw were at 3ghz on air, don't see many of those flying around.

And it's not just CPU companies either, it everything. You think every corvette that rolls of the line receives the same testing and scrutiny as the cars they send to Road and Track or Car and Driver for review?

That just tells me that the Kentsfields won't be clocking as high as the C2D's have been, since every single C2D ES core was hitting 4 ghz, most on stock voltage.

i agree. i mean you have 4 cores to deal with!

getting two to the same level is hard enough... just imagine 4.
