The streak is apparently over:

I was at the taping today of Jeopardy. He lost during his 75th game and eventually won 74 games. He ended up with 2.5M. He got a standing ovation by the crowd. I asked the studio if this was supposed to be a secret but they said we could spread the news. Spread the news. The show should air around the end of October."

And if someone was capable of beating this guy there's no telling how long he'll go on for.

The new rule is really dumb imo..it'll just be dynasties being created all the time.

If somebody paid me $50,000 a day for answering trivia questions, I wouldn't get bored.

what's the new rule?

It's not really a new rule, they just took out the old rule where a contestant could only win 5 shows in a row. They made it unlimited.

I'm hoping Ken left with style. Like betting it all on Final Jeopardy and then writing "It's been fun". Something like that. Then we can always wonder about how long he could have gone for.

Dynasties create public attentions, public attentions create advertisement opportuniteis, those create revenues :)

Have you seen Ken? I think the only thing he doesn't know is what style is. :)

It will get boring fast. Can you imagine the next guy that challenges the record? Once he gets up to 40-50 games, I can't imagine people caring too much.

$2.5m is good to live a comfortable life.
Put $1m into 10 year IB, which might double after it matures.
Then live on the $1.5m, buy a house and living expenses.
He doesn't have to work, ever.

I think so too.

I would be more interested if they capped max winnings at $1 million and gave the champion unlimited days until that milestone was reached. There would be a tangible goal and some anticipation of will he or won't he do it, instead of this indefinite waiting and hoping for a worthy competitor to emerge from the contestant pool and somehow be able to manipulate the buzzer better than someone who's already been doing it for dozens of shows. After watching Ken mop the floor for the 27th time in a row, it gets boring.

I smell BS. Someone also said on AT that he was going to lose at 800K, and hes still going. I wouldn't trust this info at all.

Yeah who knows. It could be a PR stunt by Jeopardy too, get huge viewers for the October game and then all the buzz if he doesn't actually lose.
