kef 2005.2 speakers...

my room size is 15' L x 22' W x 10' H (vaulted ceiling). lets say i will be sitting about 12' from all speakers.

i got a good deal on these speakers so i bought them. i want to know if they are good.

basically, i want to know how they compare against bookshelf speakers. i gather that, for the same price, bookshelf speakers will beat satellite speakers in sound quality. i realize that these speakers try to achieve sound quality as well as aesthetic quality - but i am more interested in the sound quality of these speakers. will these speakers sound as good as say $500 bookshelf speakers?

how well they compare against, say, these $250 Polk RM6750 speakers:

i am just trying to get a general idea on how good/bad these speakers are.

also, your inputs on a matching receiver are much appreciated. i am currently thinking about pioneer 1017 or onkyo 605.

thanks.

Why didn't you post this before you bought them?😕

Did you buy them used? They are a few years old. To answer your question though, they are much better than those Polk that you linked, but then they should be. As I recall, they went for over $1500 when I saw them.

The Onkyo 605 will have no problems with these.

i got them for $180 plus tax at circuitcity (final clearance, open box). i was in cc, saw it, and immediately bought it. obviously had no choice of asking here before buying.

thanks your reply. appreciate it.

btw, may i ask: which speakers would be equal to? i mean which bookshelf speakers would it be comparable to. TIA.

For $180 I think that's a really good buy at 88% off original price 😛

I looked briefly yesterday for reviews and found the standard CNET review that was quite positive about them. So right now do you not have any receiver at all to try them out on?

$180 is an unbelievable price for those Kefs. You got the sub too, right?

I can't really say what speakers they would be equal to, because it was so long ago that I heard them, and I wasn't shopping for me. Once my friend found out what they cost, he was ready to go. I will say this though, you won't find a 5.1 set in the $500 range that can compete with them.

yes, got the sub PSW 2150.

open box though. new ones went for $300 i think (if you could find one).

thanks.
