Keeping your phone "new"

So I just got this LG G2, and I love it. However, I know nothing great is meant to last forever, and over time it will probably become slow, laggy, every time I run an app the battery will turn white hot, basically everything my RAZR M did before I got rid of it.

Is there any way to turn back the clock on a smartphone? Is it as simple as just factory resetting it to 'start over' so to speak? That can help the lag I'd bet, but I don't see it doing anything for the battery.

What's the longest anyone has had a smartphone and been successfully able to keep it running like new?

Mine seem to run and look like new, up until I hand them down to my wife .

Just factory reset it.

Blackberry Bold 9700. Got retired a year ago but I could pick it up and use it like new, today.

Just don't fill the thing. Leave 25% of the storage un-used.
