keeping your case clean

i wanted to know how people over here at the anandtech formus clean there cases?

also ,what are some things i can use to prevent dust bulid up in my case ( a SLB) ?

Cleaning should be traditional canned air + vacuum for the majority of us.

For dust buildup, use filters, seal off all openings besides intakes and exhausts, get your comp case off the floor onto a desk, vacuum the floor often, sell all your pets.

Canned air + handheld vacuums like the Black & Decker Dustbuster. Occasionally use alcohol & towel depending on situation. I've seen some really grimy innards. Just make sure you wet the towels very slightly and be very careful of where you're getting the alcohol.

I clean my case weekly😀. Keeps my system nice and sparkly fresh!😎 I use small brushes, Q-tips, vaccums, and compressed air. Am I overzealous?😕

I spray the innards with lysol-mixed water using a wide-open garden hose attached to a high-pressure shower head.

A cordless mini vaccum cleaner also works.

I use one of these filters on my SLB behind the front fan: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3673&item=6750017970&rd=1

You have to scrunch the corners holes flat and then it will fit perfectly. There is alot more open area on that filter than the photo shows, it's a really good screen for keeping the bigger stuff out.

I have my 120mm fans on a controller so that the air flow is minimal while maintaining excellent cooling. I'll have to say using a case with 120mm fans slowed down has resulted in the cleanest case I've operated. Fine dust will still build up, but it takes a long time, and when it does, I take it out to my covered patio outside and give it a good blowout with canned air.

My case is in a very clean place to begin with, so this chore is infrequent these days....

Compressed air, filters on my instakes and lots of vacuuming and dusting of the surrounding area works very well.

good old vacuum.
no compressed air, too much hassle to move the PC outside or some place where dust can fly.
I don't have much dust in my place anyways.

....people clean their cases?

I just wipe my monitor every now and then...
don't know if my case is dirty or not cause I've never opened up my case before... but then again, the only fan on my case is the ony on the power supply so I don't think too much dirt is gin there

youd be surpirsede at how much dust accumulates in one month. people should be anal about dust since it interferes with overclocking

Yeah, I cleaned out my case a while back and got a 10C drop in case temps. Never mind the fact that your fans don't have to work as hard if there is less dust.
