Alphathree, you gotta teach your girl that she'll NEVER be happy if she keeps comparing her material wealth with others. I'm happiest when i go out with my GF to visit new places, walk around nature, etc.

So I have tried to get this through her skull, but it just doesn't "click" with her.

I've actually said to her, "At what POINT in your life will you be happy? Tell me when. When you graduate? When you start making more than $100K? When you buy your first house? When you have your first kid?"

She couldn't answer the question, yet she is also relatively unhappy right now.

Relationships have a real weakness in that it's really hard to see the situation you're in when you're actually in it. You just said that your girlfriend isn't happy now and it seems that nothing will make her happy because she hasn't decided what will make her happy.

Looking into the future, just remember that you can't change other people.

Same here. Our apartment was $950. We financed a house at 100%, and the payment is only $75 more.

Our wedding is looking closer to $2-2.5k though.

Enough said about dumping the gf, I guess.

But on a side note, I don't know how much ANY of my friends make. Not a one. Do people go around telling others how much they make? (Excepting bragging about getting a 50 cent raise at McD's.)

-- Friends getting married
-- Friends buying houses (100% loan, no down payment... hrm)
-- Friends starting careers

etc.

And I get "reports" from my girlfriend on these things. The marriage, where it was, how big. The house, where it is, how big. The job, how much salary. Etc. Etc.

I can see this is going to get very tiring, very quickly.

There seem to be two routes. One is to grow an e-penis so big that you always win the comparisons. The other is to say you don't care. Both routes seem tiresome.

she's nothing but headaches. u seem like a grounded person. she seems like $$$gold$$$.

dump the girl ftw!

to answer your questuin:
why 'dont care' = tiresome if u believe it?
