keeping programs from starting up

like limewire, etc... I used to have 2000 Pro and it was easy just to go to task mgr and disable startup. How do I do it in XP?
 
oh thank god. I forgot that it was msconfig. that's the one I always used. So much crap that had to load and then crashed. Should be good now. THanks.
 
Download somethign called WinPatrol, free software, that lets you see what actually starts and you can disable it. You can also add things you want to start at startup.
