keep timing out on everything

hey guys i have pacbell dsl service in LA and a dlink router/firewall .. now i am getting connection and i go search the web and all .. but when i use anything that needs the connection live .. like AIM, or MORE IMPORTANLY GAMES like CS or DOD i keep getting logged out .. i keep timing out after about 5 min .. but after when i try connecting it lets me .. WHAT THEHell is going on .. im running WIN XP PRO .. fellow techies please help ..
