Keep or new LCD Monitor for XBOX 360 / PS3?

I'm thinking to get an xbox360 and a ps3 sometime next year and was debating on keeping my current LCD monitor or getting a new one as output for both consoles (don't have a TV). Here are some of the questions I have:

1. Would investing in an LCD monitor that supports 1920x1080 (16:9) natively be a good investment over my current 1920x1200 (16:10, no 1:1 pixel mapping) monitor? With the 16:9 monitor, I can run at true 1080p with no image stretching, but seeing as most games are rendered at 720p natively, the display would be upscaled on 1080p mode so not sure how good the image quality is and whether it warrants a jump to a 16:9 display.

2. Does the PS3 support any 16:10 resolutions and how is image quality at that resolution? I know that the an update to the xbox360 have unlocked the 1680x1050 (16:10) resolution but some reports on the internet have people saying the quality is pretty bad at that resolution.

Sort of relying on other people's experiences as I don't have either console at the moment to test on my Samsung 2443BW (16:10, 1920x1200) display.

I have a Westinghouse 24" LCD that's 16:10 1920x1200 and I use to have both the 360 (component) and PS3 (hdmi) hooked up to it. In my opinion, the image from both looked superb; no complaints from me.

You're making this into a much bigger deal then it is.

Best buy has the Acer 233H 23" 1920x1080 monitor on sale for ~140$ I think. It comes with an HDMI cable even! I got mine 6 months ago and it works great for the Xbox.

I used my monitor for awhile for my Xbox. I connected via HDMI and it was 1920x1080. Everything was just fine apart from no sound without using the analog audio to seperate speakers. I never noticed any quality issues. Then I purchased a 42" TV and can't go back to something smaller.

Nice, thanks for all the opinions. Hopefully I can borrow a console and try it out on my current monitor.

Probably, I to tend to over-analyze things sometimes. What would be your suggestion?
