I loved my Moto X 2013 with all my heart, it was perfect aside from a really bad camera and a paltry 16GB of storage. I bought a OPO 64GB in July of 2014 and it's been great overall but I miss the software features of the Moto X.

I always wanted a Moto X 2014 but didn't want to pay the full price for one, now they are available on Swappa for $200 to $250 depending on the condition and I am tempted to sell my OPO and buy one of them.

The OPO has an SD801, 3000mAH battery, 3GB RAM and 64GB of storage with a 5.5" LCD screen.

The Moto X 2014 has an SD801, 2300mAH battery, 2GB RAM and 64GB of storage with a 5.2" OLED screen.

OPO wins in the RAM and battery department, Moto X wins in screen technology (my opinion) and software features (again my opinion). Not considering any other phones which of these two phones is better overall? I don't plan on buying a new phone this year. Thanks for your opinions.

Motorola is no longer a consideration as a result of leaving their customers in the wind over updates. Although not the absolute worst, they are in the group......

200-250 for a 2014 phone is too much with those specs. I got an LG G3 (store demo) locally for under 100.

The carrier independent Moto X 2014 got the Marshmallow update but the rest of your points are valid. Thank you.

You are correct with your model, but they have abandoned a lot of their flagships, and also the moto e was a such a good cheap phone with so much potential, that they put on the box in big letters you will get updates unlike the competition. They then changed their minds. I know its like comparing apples to airplanes, but that is one more group of people they will upset.

I remember that happening actually and it was low of them to execute a reversal like that. But on a related side note, my 2013 Moto X got an OTA a few weeks ago with some fixes and an update to Android Security (4/2016 update). That was unexpected.

It wasn't really that they changed their minds, it was more they changed who was in charge. Motorola set an expectation of "the other Nexus" when it was owned by Google, but when they sold the phone part to Lenovo that spirit didn't go along. They canned the Moto executive behind that philosophy (he is now back at Google) and their future devices look like pre-Moto Lenovo phones with Moto slapped on. Motorola the company we knew is dead, like Nokia.

Splitting hairs, it seems. The end effect was the same. Lenovo didn't share that "other Nexus" mindset, so it's not that different from saying they changed their minds.

Your information does help a lot when it comes to pointing the finger at the right people, though.

What software features do you wish the OPO had? Maybe there's ways to get them on the OPO?

The Moto app. It listens always even when the screen is off and it has a form of the the Profiles feature that I don't use in CM but did on my Moto X 2013. I used it so much when I was driving to KSC every day for months on end to send and receive messages, place and receive calls, control audio playback of songs and MP3s. It worked so much better than the Google app alone does. At least at the time it did.

I would try google now again, because it does everything you mentioned as far as I know.

I use Google Now often on my OPO and it's nice but just not as nice and reliable as the Moto app interfacing with Google Now was.

7-0 so far. I'm sensing a trend developing. :)

If you really like Moto Assistant then get an X. We are just negative about Motorola as a forum.

I will say for pure value the Droid Turbo GSM is probably a better value. I have seen those for about the same price.

Since having posted my poll/thread I've seen the Axon 7 and the OP3. Both could be affordable and offer significant improvements to my OPO. It's good to have options.
