Again who cares. 99% of us don't care.. Just that one percent like you that follow every rule ever created.... I need a facepalm gif for you.

You seriously are out of your mind when you speak like this. Ever wonder why.. *tailers charge a restocking fee?

RMA = return. RMA doesn't have to mean something is wrong with it.

If within the 30 day period newegg will take the card back for that reason, however past that if you RMA and claim the card no longer works then that is fraud.

To discourage returns like that? I'm not saying i've done it a thousand times.. more like once in the past 5 years and it wasn't because i overvolted a card or killed it intentionally.

AFAIK, newegg won't accept returns past 30-days. Don't know of any e-tailer that does.

Haha. I just returned some memory without a restocking fee. Though I never opened the package (not even the envelope it was shipped in). My reason was "No longer needed" which was true.

Folks, seeing's how this thread kinda devolved (in a good way!) into a "RMA fraud!" discussion I felt it would be appropriate to weigh in and offer some official guidance...guidance which has pretty much already been given by a few posters in this thread already so get ready for some dejavu.

First of all, yes, the promotion or advocation of warranty fraud and RMA fraud are not acceptable topics in these forums.

Those of you who took exception early on and raised objection based on your suspicions of such are to be commended. Vigilance is a sign of a healthy and robust community.

However, we must understand that not all things RMA are RMA fraud.

Willfully returning an otherwise properly functioning product is not RMA fraud if the business to which the product is being returned has a policy of accepting RMA's for reasons relating to customer satisfaction being guaranteed, etc.

Newegg in particular has their online account management setup such that you can very easily RMA a product you purchased while requiring you to provide no more reasoning for the RMA than "cuz I wants to". Taking advantage of their generous business spirit is not fraud.

Just want to make sure we are all on the same page here...the keyword is fraud and what we don't want to see is the promotion or advocacy of fraud.

As I understand it, what has been discussed in this thread is NOT tantamount to fraud; rather, it is a discussion revolving around legitimate RMA reasons and actions taken to exercise the rights of the customer to enact a legitimate RMA.

I just love how Newegg wouldn't let me send back my 3 day old GTX 480 for a refund because I accidentally threw out the two cent quick start guide that it came with.

"Everything that came with the package must be there " Is what they said. Give me a break.

Why would you even consider throwing out the box or any manual's 3 days after purchase? I still have the box for my Opty 185 in my closet somewhere

Lesson learned the hard way - always keep the package contents of all hardware you are using.

things get rma'ed all the time for the dumbest reasons. Honestly I heard a statistic not that long ago which stated that 95% of all consumer electronics returns are due to user error and there was actually nothing wrong with the product.

If it makes you feel any better, my GTX 580 is a nvidia reference card and carries no warranty either.

It makes us almost like brothers... lol, just keep it

Makes perfectly sense. The laptop I bought had a HUGE notice saying "Do not return the product if you have problems" and instead to call tech support. Yeah sounds like user error lol.
