The campaign manager of Arkansas Democratic congressional candidate Ken Aden arrived home last night to find his child’s pet cat murdered on the front porch with the word “LIBERAL” scrawled across its lifeless body.

Pope County, where Burris lives, is a highly-conservative area of Arkansas. Aden has been running for the 3rd congressional district seat, currently held by Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR), since August 2011. He released a statement on the matter this morning: “To kill a child’s pet is just unconscionable. As a former combat soldier, I’ve seen the best of humanity and the worst of humanity. Whoever did this is definitely part of the worst of humanity.”

It is unclear at this time precisely who committed this heinous act.

Nothing infuriates me more than animal cruelty, and for it to be politically motivated... I really have no more words. At least none fit to post.

Personally I would hope that leaders on the right-Steve Womack, the Arkansas Republican Party, etc.-would step up and condemn this as strongly as possible. I would also hope that Steve Womack’s father, owner of a local radio station, would stop giving out the names, phone numbers, and addresses of members of the Aden team or anyone else for that matter on his radio program when ranting about Aden. The elder Womack has done that several times and Aden’s former press secretary got a death threat in the mail soon after her name was mentioned on the program. Clearly there is someone out there that doesn’t need anymore of that kind of information, much less inspiration to act on their hatred. I also hope that the Aden campaign will do whatever they can to up the security at some of their events, for the time being at least. Aden has said he’s going to put out a press release on the matter soon, and we’ll be following this and any developments related to it closely.

As they were getting out of the car, one of his children discovered their family cat dead on the front porch. One side of the animal’s head had been bashed in and an eyeball was hanging out of its socket. But there was something even more horrifying to be found on the corpse. Written across the animal’s fur in black marker was the word “LIBERAL“.

Just saw the edit about giving out the names and address information of members of the democratic opponents. There's no value in that at all other than to intimidate your opponent.

I daresay that was the sole motivation in doing so. The perpetrators also wring their hands and disclaim responsibility when nutjobs they encourage commit senseless political violence like this.

Is is precisely this sort of incitement that led to the genocides and war crimes in Rwanda and the Balkans.

I would beat the person responsable to within a inch of his life if i got my hands on him, i have 2 cats and consider them more valuble lifeforms than the person who did this, by a large margin.

Considering the republican debates, the audience, the total disregard for civility.
I imagine these people sitting at home playing violent video games all day,
no life, no friends, surrounded by fox news 24/7 and right wing talk radio.
Toss in a little Pat Robertson, to make all feel they are somehow Christians (in a weird, distorted, perverted sense of the word), and there you are.
Then, go out to attend "the debates", the modern day version of "the Christians vs the Lions" Roman forums, and there they are...

I have to say it, but this country, America, really needs a wakeup call.
And if there is a God, and poetic justice, there will be a wakeup call in a way unimagined.
Like WWII, or an American Holocaust, either some natural, or man made disaster.
Something that would bring Americans to their knees. Bring us together as one nation under God (so to speak), if that is ever again possible.
Our country fight wars, men and women die in wars, and the general population is totally immune from the pain. Sitting comfy in our living rooms, completely detached from reality. Wars come and go, hundreds die, thousands die, tens of thousands die, and we are oblivious to it all. Sheltered. Protected. Kept isolated.

That creates a nation where people go about their daily lives as if nothing is amiss. Everything is just as it should be. Because we become so isolated and detached from it all.

Someday by either natural or unnatural events, this will change. It must. It just works that way. As if God himself eventually takes notice.
Whenever we as a nation became so detached from the real world, and we became immune to compassion and tolerance towards our neighbor, something has happened to abruptly wake us up.

The crash of 1929, World Wars, natural disasters, man made disasters, disease, droughts, always something completely unexpected.
But like my grandmother use to say... I have this feeling in my bones something is coming.
The good...?
That this would bring Americans together. Our wakeup call into unity.
Bring us all back down to earth, just like in the so called, "good old days".
When people could still tell the difference between some self proclaimed twisted televangelists like Pat Robertson, and true teachings of the Bible.
When we would never cheer on our neighbors pain and trials, but run to their recuse.

Killing a family pet, or congresswomen, is just the crust of the matter.
But at least we as a nation have always been blessed with Gods forgiveness, and his wrath. And that time of wrath is coming.

It is worse to go after something like a pet/animal because they have no defense against us. They have no idea. Humans have a sense of when another human is out to do them harm, most pets do not.

This is one reason why people get so heated up when something is done to an animal, specifically a pet. Not to mention that most animal people love their pets like family, but some folks don't understand that.

Thanks for trolling, troll. Unfortunately, the truth is that both sides have enough crazies that either side could have done this despicable act. Heck, 49ers player Kyle Williams, who had a couple of fumbles which likely cost the Niners a trip to the Super Bowl, has reportedly been receiving death threats. Over a game. That's beyond pathetic. Want to bet that at least a few of those San Fran fans are Democrats?

That completely misses the point that one side actively courts, incites, and enables their crazies way more than the other, and then claims innocence and even victim hood when something like this happens. Worse, some of the f*ckers even joke about it.

What’s more, according to a lot of people from NWA who listen to KURM radio, Womack’s father cracked a joke about the cat not having nine lives, dismissed it as something that didn’t deserve any attention, and cracked that the only reason Aden was putting this out there was because he didn’t have the money for TV ads.
