KDS laptop... to buy or not to buy...?

Anyone knows anything about KDS laptops? They have impressive specs for very attractive price, but they are not a big brand. Any advise? Any links to reviews would be appreciated. Thanks!

Find out of they have a local service provider, so that you don't have to ship it out for 3 weeks. Also, how much cheaper is the KDS vs a "name brand" laptop. The amount you save better justify the possibitly of the lack of support, etc. There are so many good deals on "name brand" laptops these days, you might want to look around still.

well, I am looking for a laptop which would replace my desktop at this point. I can't say that I am gonna use it to play games with high recuirements (Unreal, Q3, etc.) but I want it to be pretty fast and enough storage. Here is a link to KDS on Buy.com: link It's 800Mhz PIII with 128 Mgs ram, 20 gig HD, and DVD. If I would buy something like that from a "major" brand it would cost me about a 1,000.00 more. That's why I am considering it.

the problem with most offbrand laptops is the corners they cut. they use desktop processors instead of mobile which can cause heat problems (make sure you get something to put between your lap and your pc, cause it might get hot) and can cause crappy battery life.

i just bought a thinkpad for 2 grand, p3-700, 128mb of ram, dvd, 14.1" tft lcd, 10gb hdd, straight from ibm.

Gunbuster, thank you for your input, but is it based on the fact that you had it or read about it,or is it just your opinion??

It is PIII mobil processor (not a desktop one) according to the specs. Btw, I had an IBM 600 series laptop at work and it also gets pretty hot. Before that, I had IBM 700XL and I could not keep it on my lap for too long, too hot.
