I just bought my AV 195 FD @ BB for $479.00 with $30.00 Rebate, which brings the price to $449.00,
not to bad for this quality of Monitor.

This isn't a hot deal at all. In the matter of fact, I couldn't even find ANY place online that sells this for MORE than $450!

It's not bad if you don't want to order online, though sales tax will push the price back up near $480. I think I'll take my Sony G400 for $490, thanks ;)

Though I do wish I had got the KDS for $350 instead. (BTW, these prices are longer valid, sorry.)

Radarman - don't you mean the AV-195TF for $479? I picked one of those up, and I must say, I never realized what a difference a totally flat screen would make. I must say SWEEEEEET!

This may not be the best deal, but they do have no interest payments until 01/2002 - which is one of the reason I bought the monitor. Hard to find that online.

This is a great monitor, as it will do 1600x1200 at 85Hz and it is .24dp along with a crisp picture. I couldn't see spending an extra $100 to get the Sony brand name on the trinitron when the picture was not any better. I will say this, if you're in the market for a 19" monitor, this is definitely one to consider whether or not you get it at BB or not.

This is just my opinion...and we all know what opinions are like....

the avitron line of kds kicks ass i just bought a used (but perfect) 17" kds avitron and it smokes my dell 17" sony monitor (dont know why its the EXACT same tube).

Made all the 14" monitors in my house look blurry and fuzzy. It hurts to look at them.

oh i paid $130 for the used kds 17" im happy :) still has much of the 3 year warranty left too!

They jacked the price up on it. The KDS 19" monitor I've been looking at on and off for a while at BB runs $429-$449. So they raised the price so you could have a rebate.

I've got the KDS Avitron 17" AV-7TF. It's the Flat Definition tube, totally incredible. As mentioned above, definately looks better than the Dell(Sony) monitor's with the same tube. The Dell's are nice, but the KDS is awesome. Oh yeah, the Avitron comes with a advance replacement warranty. It's a Korean company that is based in California. Their customer service and tech support are great and fast. I will only buy KDS Avitron's. Good luck and surely a sweet deal for the Avitron FD 19".

I got mine for $337.50. From Onvia w/ free shipping. $399.98-$25 coupon w/ 10% back through Pointclick, and the check is pending. ;)

I can't say enough good things about this monitor. I want another one to put right next to it. :)

Ranger X:

I highly doubt you can buy a high quality (tubes made in the same generation as the FD Trinitrons) 21" monitor at less than the KDS AV-21TF, which is already a steal at $699.

It does indeed. the IBM uses trinitron with an ultraflat screen (amazing how flat this thing was... the quality was beyond anything I have ever seen. It usually is a 1000+$ monitor but thats the nice thing about student discounts. not a bad deal for only 525 but since I have a 19" I decided not to get one. that and i *HATE* trinitron monitors cause of those damn lines.

I'm a student at USC - not the Trojans, the Cocks - and I was wondering where you go to school, PYR, and how you went about getting such a discount on that monitor. Gracias, guys!

Got the KDS 195TF from Best Buy. This is a GOOD deal. Payed 479.00 with a 30$ rebate, plus a gift certificate from Best Buy worth 25$. Not to mention no tax (got it in Delaware)!

This monitor ROCKS. I initially got a Samsung from Buy.com and it was defective. Got hosed on the the shipping... The KDS has better image quality and I was able to get locally... which is worth paying extra if you have too. Too oftem monitors get damaged in shipping... and you are forced to pay. You can always return locally at no cost.

Anyway, just wanted to voice my opinion on the KDS. Anyone here touting other brands is just upset they paid more for the same quality the KDS is, and is trying to justify the fact that they paid more by putting KDS down... especially the Sony freaks.

Anyway, get your KDS and enjoy!

P.S. Anyone noticing the lines on a Trinitron is one anal freak. You basically have to be a psycho to stare at those tiny, tiny insignificant lines and complain about them. People will say anything to put down something they can't or don't have.

After 5 minutes on the monitor you will never notice the lines ever again.
