KDS .27 17in Monitor $80 Shipped!

Great deal but I believe you might get in trouble for the direct coupon link. I don't know why but I think it's one of the forum rules not to post codes or links to codes.

These are very good monitors - I have one.

hm.. the coupon says:

*This Offer Not Valid on Tech Depot

wonder if it'll still work.. i don't need the monitor tho..

Any thoughts on this monitor? My parents desperately need to replace their ancient 14" model, but I don't want to replace crap with crap for them.

I think this is a decent monitor. I would buy it over the Envision 710e sold at Staples. I've had both, and the Envision monitor had dark, shadowy areas. I liked the KDS monitor alot more.

It is OK for 1024x768 or 1152x864, so it should be fine for your parents.
It's not good enough for 1280x1024 though.

I got this monitor for my parents about a half year ago, and yup, it's a good "parents' monitor." It will do 1024X768 @ 75 Hz and look OK, although my parents insist on 800X600 (I think they believe that larger icons give them more value for their money, or something like that... 😉). The monitor gives a nice square screen (no bad bowing at the edges), so I think this is a good buy.

I stopped at OD this am, and looked at this monitor, it was dark, even with the brightness and contrast and user color set up all the way. This would be no good for me. Yes they were splitting signal between five or so monitors, but they all were getting the same input. . Anyone who has this monitor agree that they have to crank up brightness and contrast, or not?

I own the KDS 19" Flat Screen (AV 195-TF), which I purchased for $300. I love my monitor--most people don't know, but KDS uses Sony Trinitron tubes. I think that $80 for this 17" monitor is a great deal! I think I might have to pick one up for my older system. 🙂 I can't tell from the picture on OD if this screen is truely flat or not, but that would just sweeten the deal. $80 is good either way! Go for it!

Plus~ their 3 year warrenty program is excellent! I didn't even bother with BB's warrenty cause a 3-year manufacture's warrenty came free!

I find the color, brightness and contrast to be fine.

Me too. (Staples deal)

In a few of their monitors yes, not in all, not in this one.

Screen is not flat, but it's not for me, an upgrade for someone without a flat screen monitor, so no big deal. Thanks for the brightness info. I think some places they hope, (help?), the cheaper monitors look crappy to sell more of the high priced ones.

I actually had to lower the contrast and brightness on mine. The settings
are about in the middle of the range.
