OK, i have a little problem.. how do i get the CD drives to show on the desktop.. they keep showing up as like hard drives, and say hard disk mount at /mnt/cdrecorder.. I want them to say like DVD Drive, CD-RW Drive.. and have icons accordingly..

Thanks

just make a icon and link it to /mnt/cdrecorder and call it whatever you want. What comes up if you run this from the command line.
#ln -n /mnt/cdrecorder /home/*YOURUSERNAME*/Desktop/cdlink

...maybe I am not quite understanding your question. can you not just change the name the way you want?

If you're running KDE 3.1, there is an option (via checkbox) in the Behavior tab of the KDE Control Center to display devices on the desktop

OK, now under the KDE CC, i made it so that kde won't display the drives on the desktop, then i made a shortcut to them.. but it say only root can mount a drive?? gah
