I get all my KDE desktop icons nice and sorted the way I like 'em, then whenever I mount/unmount a drive they all reset to the left side of the screen. Is there a way I can prevent this from occuring?

goto to behaivor in the kde control panel, and make sure there not selected, then create your own shortcuts on the desktop

nod, I can create desktop shortcuts to the mount points but I really do like the way KDE automatically changes the icon depending on if it's mounted or not, as well as the way it changes the icon itself(green/red lights, etc.) is there any way I can do that with a typical icon?

lol no ideas

just use command

make the ailas eject='umount /mnt/cdrom ; eject /mnt/cdrom'

that would be cool....

I see no reasons to use an icon for the cdrom...
