Sounds like it's just X freezing. Not Linux. Can you Ctrl-Alt-F1 into console? I would probably try to look at my XFree86 config file to see if all the drivers it loads are the right ones...

Just a thought at 5 am though. I'm sure someone else will have some more insight later on...

yup i can Ctrl-Alt-F1 into console, is there any way to fix this?
