Christ, 140k USD tax-free? Hook me up Mill. I probably wouldn't even get kidnapped if I came face to face with insurgents, I look just like them. :p

Wouldn't bother me in the least. I'd jump at that job...then again I'm a new graduate desperate for a job.

That's cheap, there are people there working for 250k doing IT stuff.

The thing is, you stand a good chance of dying, what is it 1 in 1200 for contractors? For that kind of money, I'd like to get to spend it.

Let's say you get in your car and drive to the store to buy a bag of chips and get t-boned by a semi on the way, resulting in your skull amalgamating with his grill. Is it worth it?

but if you know that a certain area contains an unusual concentration of reckless semi drivers then that is a different matter....hey, it's his decision to make. The images of those contractors being killed and dragged on the streets have been burned into my brain. there is a reason people are paid so much to go work there

It all depends on which city/town you will be in. Are you able to find out before going?

How does 140 become 80? And yes, I'd do it. No doubt. It's unlikely you'll be hurt.

Edit: I see he explained it. DO IT!

if i didn't have 5 years left in my Army contract, I'd be over there in a heartbeat for $140k.

If I was going to be in a secure zone the entire time, then sure. Otherwise hell no. Can you carry a weapon on the job?

Hell no would I do it. But I'm married, and have a lot going on here in the states. I doubt I'd do it even if I was single though.

But that's me, if you feel it's safe enough, and want the money, go for it.
