So anyways, I paid my 6$ for 2 months of broadband (In China broadband is very reasonable by american terms, but expensive to the average person)I just get my awesome broadband connection. I'm really excited. Before I was on a 36.6 modem, and before that the school's network was so slow that it could barley manage 2400 bits per second (For laymans terms that's 0.3 KB/s)and I download the two ISOs for AOM because I'm gonna try it before I buy it (really expensive over here, 1/4 of my months salary) thinking that it will probably take forever...

so anyways, I download it, and i'm getting a good 20K/s offa each ISO file and I think that this connection is pretty good.

And as soon as the download finishes, I become a virtual server! It's awful! At one point (I have a pic if there's demand for it) I saw that my combined uploads reached 700K/s! I was ecstatic, but I was scared as hell because of the bandwidth that this thing might pull. So anyways, I give it a day, then I decide i'm gonna pull it offa kazaa. I like the game, so I go buy it, (So *don't* flame me for being a pirate) and I decided to tally the amount that Kazaa users pulled offa my connection. After all, it's only been 20 hours... so it can't be *that* bad. But as I saw the final number, I started feeling really sick.

Total tally=60GB

And my only thought is... ":Q" and "Man, this connection is AWESOME!!!"

Edit:From 0 to superhuman in 3 hours. Awesome!

I had to shut off download for a while.. yep I am an awful leech scumbag. A one point I had like 400k worth of people getting from my me and my downloads dropped to like .2k and my computer was sluggish as hell. The other problem I had was people on slow ass modems downloading from me for like 2 days and I can not leave my computer on 24/7. My daughter turns it off and my mom complains about the noise of the fans. Yeppers I have 4 fans in my computer one of which is a black label which sounds like a jet engine. Stupid overclocking... :)

Teaching english part time. Like, 5 hours a week. I just turned 18, so until recently I as a minor. My parents are in China. Strange though, because at the school that I work at, you see almost as many Koreans as Chinese. I guess Qingdao must be a busy port city.

Interesting stuff.

Again, if you don't mind me asking, how much do you make from it?

I'm considering to try that English teaching thingy in either China and Japan for a couple of years.

8.27 yuan=1$

Well, currently 1440 yuan a month. Most foreign experts here make 3K yuan a month. That's not too bad, as living expenses are about 1K-2K you can save 125$ a month. Or 1K$ a year. This is in Qingdao, a decently large city. If you have alot of private parttime teaching engagments, you can make about 5-6K yuan a month. Until they ousted me outa highschool/middleschool (I showed too many movies with my portable VCD player) I used to make a potential 2880Yuan a month. And that was only like, 9 hours a week.

Living expenses are really low. Frugal livers over here can live offa 600-800 yuan a month, with pretty good luxuries. Computer parts and electronic components (imported ofcourse) are the same price as in America but other stuff can be bought much cheaper. You can get a decent T-shirt here for 10 yuan. All in all, it's a nice place. ;)

Any questions? Ask.

Cool.

Safe to live there and everything? For some odd reason, I am kinda scared to go to China.

I am going to study premodern Chinese and Korean history and thoughts in my grad school so it will really help me to live in China for a while. Your job sounds like a very good pay for so little work. :)

The basic rule of thumb is that you will get paid 100 yuan (12$) an hour for private jobs, and less for steady jobs. Oh, and connections is everything. ;) In smaller cities, saftey is almost guaranteed. All in all, i'd say that living in China is slow paced, comfortable, relaxing, and all of that stuff. ;)

Oh yeah, I am for you to envy... you can controll the amount of bandwidth that Kazaa uses for uploading. Do all of us Kazaa members a favor and cap it, not stop sharing. People will cut you off if you don't share. I should know.. :(:p

Tools->Options->Advanced you can cap it at 512 killobits, that's a pretty comfy setting at ~60K/s.

Cool thanks. Yea people drop me all the time..
I will change that at home. Makes me crazy when uploads suck my entire broadband down to zero.. :)

Yeah, well, that's no where as bad as today. I mean, I was *really* pushing my connection, sometimes it would hit 950K/s and I could still webbrowse and still have it feel like broadband. As I said, I *really* like this connection! It *ROCKS*!! ANd I paid 6$ a month! OH YAH!!
