Kazaa Speaks- Morpheus didn't pay their bills....

interesting... but as the article says Kazaa shot themselves in the foot now the RIAA will be all over their asses.

Oops. 😱 Sucks to be them. 😛

Ugg, why must they be so stupid? I know Kazza wants to make money like anyone else, but when it comes to filesharing, you absolutely can't show that hidden ace.:|

Big time. There's more to this story I think......

Means that if Kazaa can stop Morpheus from working, then they can be sued and told to disable their own client.

Looking at all the news coverage of this in the past week, you'd think this was Microsoft and IBM going at each other..

Anyway, it doesn't look they'll be able to shut down Kazaa before the fall, and hopefully someone else will come up with a better technology by then.

what kazaa did was a cheap dirty trick.....they pulled the rug under MCM......the last time i looked at Kazaa there were 100,000 simultaneous users....bye bye kazaa....they now have an import tool for MCM download queues.....as someone mentioned...you cannot make money in the file sharing business.

You must not visit KaZaA often. I am online right now, and there are a million (1,000,000.. well, just under) users online sharing over 24 terabytes of files. I always thought Morpheus and KaZaA actually shared the network though, so by losing Morpheus they haven't really lost anything as long as the Morpheus users use KaZaA (which most will, I think).

Interesting news.com article. Sucks to see Morpheus go, but tis nothing to grieve about.

Yeah, I was reading about some court cases in Europe involving Kazaa. Kazaa told the courts that they couldn't shut them down because of the nature of the program. But I am sure those courts will be revisiting their cases now that they have proof that Kazaa can disable clients on their network, including the fact that they can disable selective clients will really make Kazaa legal fodder.

If they entered testimony under oath that there was no way that they could shut their software down, couldn't they be indicted on perjury charges as well? Seems like a very dumb move to simply make a few bucks.

<< "Since it appears that the attack on your computers came from the closed proprietary FastTrack-Kazaa software, we have opted not to continue with this (technology)," the company wrote on its Web site. "We believe it to have the ability to access your computer at will and change registry settings." >>

Is that true? lol.. I hope not.

kazza isn't based in america, and that other one sharing the network is based in some east pacific country right? is it going to matter what the us courts decide? if there not in the US how would it effect them?

also, now that morpheus is using the gnutella model you couldn't shut it down if you wanted to. it dosn't really matter anyway. it takes the court about 2yrs to shut each one of these programs down. and 10 more pop up every month.

is Kazza still loaded with Spyware or no???

If not I might download it as I really do not like the new Morpheus?

thanks

<< Or you could use Grokster to connect to the Kazaa network. Does it have spyware? >>

yeah, installed grokster a few days ago.. has cydoor.. so you basically do the same thing to get rid of it as in the kazaa.. use adaware to get rid of cydoor, then add the dummy .dll in the program/ or system32 directory..

Hmm, Kazaa whacked all the Morpheus users' computers, and upped everybody elses' s/w to another version, insuring a virtual kill on Morpheus.
