Get this. I ran TCPView and saw Kazaa.exe (actually Kazaa LIte) running.. even though I had never run it. And on the WinXP task manager, it wasn't showing up. But TCPView showed it.. and it was connected to some host user-24-214-171-148.knology.net as well. Very shady. I ended the process through TCPView. Anyone know what the heck is going on? Suddenly I don't trust this software.

Dumb question of the day...lol

Whats TCPView?

Did a search, no luck.

Typed in run box & command prompt in WinXp, no luck.

Wouldnt mind checking this out.

Kazaa has always been shady. They have great stuff on there, but I've never downloaded it for that reason, the spyware etc. I'll stick with other programs for now.

Which would very very odd, since I haven't even run Kazaa in over 2 weeks!

PS, it's Kazaa Lite by the way.. no spyware stuff

wouldnt one way to check it be with a firewall. just turn off any automatic permissions and see what happens when you boot up (if software firewall goes up first)

How long has it been since you scanned for viruses and trojans... I'd guess that's what you have ... it would also explain why you computer is ssslllloooowwww (from your other thread)

That's where I would check first. I don't know that it's specifically related to kazaa, but it may be taking advantage of it.

I equate using file sharing apps (like KaaAZzZaA, Bearshare etc.) to going out to the shady side of town to buy drugs. You know what you're doing is illegal so you should be extra carefull and willing to live with the consequences.

I'm a USENET guy myself and keep all my AV and anti-trojan defs up to date and scan 100% of the stuff I download, right after I d/l it. Then I still do full system scans once or twice a week and run Adawrae every week.
