:Q

does Anandtech have a server that everyone plays on? just wondering...

damn, for some reason i cant connect to Kazaa, it just keeps saying Connecting...
anyone have any ideas why??

i think the next version of kazaa should have a setting that doesnt let people who dont share dl from you. because of all these damn leeches everyone is downloading slow as hell. everyone can afford at least 3k of their damn upload.......:|

If you're having trouble dloading Kazaa lite, you can always dload the regular Kazaa and fix it yourself, doesnt take that many steps, all you need is adaware and the fake dll file.

damn, way too many cheapass leechers.

there should be a test built in kazza that tests the maximum upload bandwidth you have and dedicate at least 1/4 of it to kazza whether you like it or not.

here is another idea, get a rating system on the users, the rating goes bad when you cancell people's downloads x amount of times. when you download from others, the system looks at your rating, if there is a bad rating, it wont allow you to download, unless you upload to other people and get your ratings up.

I already have KaZaA working properly with no spyware, so I will not waste my time and bandwidth downloading KaZaA lite or whatever.

However I will make a comment in regards to "leechers". Has it ever occured to you that there are a gazillion dialup users that can't spare 3K of their upload? That's ALL their upload, and when they're uploading, they can't do jack sh*t. So why would they stay there, connected, hogging their phone line, to send you, someone meaningless and unimportant to them, some pr0n movie or pirated software? 😉

If however you are on a 5mbps down / 5mbps up cable connection - you have no excuse. If uploading doesn't severely cripple your performance, then you have no excuse. But the majority of standard cable and DSL users have 64-192kbps upload caps. When I upload something, downloads come to a crawl. In other words, my connection is rendered useless.

I'm new to Kazaa now. I used to be a Morpheus user and this thing just totally slows my computer almost to a halt. I can barely do anything and it can take up to a minute to open a new program. Is there anything I can do to improve performance while running Kazaa? Right now I'm considering not even using it due to the bogging down of my system. I have a 1.3 Thunderbird powering this POS too.

(edit: I don't know what happened, but this is what I did and it works fine now. I restarted my computer, still bad and slow. Then I shut down my anti virus, still bad and slow. Waited ten minutes and now it works fine. I guess I was just getting ahead of myself or something, just like the old morpheus, thank you Kazaa lite.)

why should i (the broadband user) stay there to send the 56kers, someone meaningless and unimportant to me, some pr0n movie or pirated software? this argument can go both ways. this is a disadvantage of dialup, if it sucks to have a 3k upload, so be it, you get what you pay for.

but anyways, we can spare the 56kers, they can leech all they want, just because i feel sorry for them🙂
but 1/4th of the upload bandwidth for broadband users doesnt hinder your download performance that much.

I limit my uploads to 1 user, cause my upload sucks, even though I have cable. It's capped at 128k, so I'd prefer that someone downloading from my comp get a decent connection at least.

well RSI then they can spare 1k a sec, and the people on cable with 128-192kbps can upload at around 10-15k a sec, they can spare 2-5k without it affecting their connections. hell i have 130kbps download and can upload at 14-15k/sec and i spare 6k for people to download from me, doesnt affect my connection one bit, i can still play games, download etc.

Tried it, same crap as any other file sharing program, You start downloading from someone, and they cut you off. Then, the same user tries to download your whole hard drive. I HATE P2P Programs.

jthsmak, how is this a ripoff of your thread?
Answer: It's not, but I went with jthsmak way because your link is broken. Happy now jthsmak?😀
