Ok, I'm back. So far the new version just seems like a Windows XP style makeover (translation: kiddie). I'm sure there's more to it than that but for now I don't see it. Also, it still comes with the same stupid spyware so I had to remove that.

<< Is the spyware removal still the same as in the old version? >>

Yep, worked the same for me. For those of you wondering what we're talking about, here's some more info:

<< First here's an article that explains what happened: Infoanarchy article

To install Kazaa 1.6 without the spyware:
1. Download Kazaa
2. Download and run Adaware to remove all the spyware you just installed (they install even if you don't check them in the kazaa installer)

Now running kazaa gives you an error message, you just removed spyware that is necessary for kazaa to run :Q
So install a dummy file to replace the spyware:
3. Go here
4. Download and extract CD_CLINT.ZIP into your windows\system (win9x) or system32 (nt) folder
5. Run kazaa and enjoy

Here's some more info on that last piece of spyware we neutered
It's really an ad-downloader that runs in the background all the time.
>>

Special thanks to jthsmak for the info.

Also, here's some more information about the differences in the new version: KaZaA

i wont use Kazaa after they started bundling distributed computing software.

Info from cnet

Editor's note: This download includes additional applications that are bundled within the KaZaa's installer file. These applications will deliver advertisements, collect information, overlay content or graphics on the Web site you are viewing, or modify your system settings. As with all downloads, CNET recommends that you pay close attention to the options presented to you during the installation process. Known third-party applications bundled with this download include Cydoor and Altnet. For more information about the Altnet software bundled within Kazaa, please read CNET

The Brilliant network is based on a piece of software called "Altnet Secureinstall," which is bundled with the Kazaa software. That technology can connect to other peer-to-peer networks, ad servers or file servers independently of the Kazaa software and can be automatically updated to add new features, according to Brilliant's filing.

Kazaa crossed the line when they quietly added that extra software that can use your cycles for their own purposes. Screw 'em.
