Polls show Hagan gained big after all the NC media publicly denounced Dole's ad the day after it aired.

This year gets better and better. Another seat for the Democrat supermajority, another colossal GOP failure.

I wonder if bob is aware that his wife is slinging muck like this. I've disagreed with most of their policies but thought they at least had some class. I guess it's just another desperate republican. I wonder how william bennett would characterize repug virtues when things get tough.

It's like the old saying that the coverup is worse than the crime; the Republican panic in reaction to losing politically is to go extreme and look bad and lose even more voters, while the Democrats look better just for basically staying calm. Our democracy is weak when the 'campaign issue' is about attacks on the religion of candidates, but that's where we are, reflecting the high number of ignorant voters.

Hagan's response

This is the best political response I've ever seen.
No voice actors, no video footage, no scary music, just a live shot of the accused
candidate straight up calling out their opponent for being a hypocrite.
The "bear false witness" line is priceless.

Original Dole ad for reference

Haha, I guess Dole wants to go down in flames. It's like she said "I don't give a fuck anymore, you ad guys just put out whatever you want and I'll approve it". Did she respond to Hagan's repsonse?

I'm really saddened by what's become of Elizabeth Dole. She's gone downhill very quickly, and these attacks suggest she may be mentally unstable.

Instead of the constitutional requirement that Presidents be 35 years of age, maybe we need a geezer clause? You know, if you are over 70, dribbling your oatmeal and soiling your panties, maybe you should stay home and clip coupons instead of running for public office?

Has the potential for greatest political p'wnage .... ever.

I don't know what possessed Dole to go along with this seeing that Hagan taught Sunday school and I believe, is an elder in her (Presbyterian!) church. She got some really bad advice - but that shows you how low Tar Heel Republicans will go to win an election.

I don't think North Carolina really bought into Dole, anyway. When she won in 2002 she had been out of the state for a really, really long time, and never spent a great deal of time in the state after she became a Senator.

I also think she lost a measure of her support when she 'waffled' on the Navy practice airfield beside the Pocosin wildlife refuge. She never really took a stance in spite of incredible opposition to the Navy's plans.

When it finally got shot down she tried to get out in front of the crowd and got 'bullshit' called on her ...

I'm an NC resident and I've never seen much about her or what she has done for the state. After she won her seat, she went "rogue". I think a political ad run by Hagan said she only spent 13 days in NC last year and like 17 days the year before.

What I don't understand is why it would matter if she was "godless" and hung around "godless" individuals. At least they have some intelligence; unlike Dole and her toothless inbred, rural retard, Jesus freak followers.

Not unless someone here is doing something more important than expressing an opinion. ;)

We could carve out an age group niche for you though! ;)

I voted for Hagan last week. It had nothing to do with these ads however, they don't affect the way I vote. It had to do with Libby's vote on a defense bill a couple of years ago that personally fucked me and a lot of other retired military out of some money. I'm usually not a single issue voter but that one pissed me off.

Bob Dole chimes in on 'Godless' ad

Raleigh, N.C. ? Incumbent GOP Sen. Elizabeth Dole's husband helped his wife campaign Sunday as her television ads, questioning Democratic state Sen. Kay Hagan ties to an atheist group, continued to cause controversy.

An adviser for Godless Americans held a fund-raiser at his home for Hagan. The event was not billed as a Godless Americans event, and other hosts included an ambassador and U.S. Sen. John Kerry.

Former Sen. Bob Dole says North Carolina voters deserve to know why Hagan went to the event.

"Just answer the question, I've been in this business a long time and when everything else fails, you just have to answer the question. Even if you don't want to answer the question,? he said.

Dole's campaign is sending out automated telephone calls that talk about Hagan, and the Godless Americans Political Action Committee.

Hagan has sued Dole over her initial television ad about the fundraiser, accusing her of defamation and libel. The initial spot concludes with a picture of Hagan while another woman says, "There is no God." Hagan is an elder at her Presbyterian church and has responded with an ad that strongly declares her Christian faith.

"Elizabeth Dole would like nothing better than not to talk about the issues. She's attacking my faith, she faking my voice, that's her choice,? Hagan told WRAL News.

According to the Godless Americans Web site, the group's goal is for "a secular America, one where our right to freedom of and freedom from religion is valued and protected."

Dole's campaign filed a motion Friday to get the lawsuit against her dismissed.

LOL

Keep digging you old bitch.

PPP made a note in their latest NC Senate poll that the momentum clearly shifted to Hagan in their polling after the 'Godless' ad aired.

Can't wait to see Dole defeated Tuesday night.
