Fine, where do you think the Line should be drawn?

I think it breaks down that the middle class is 50-60% of the population, lower income people make up about 30% (these two groups fluctuate, so the middle class was getting about 65% and the lower class was more 20% at one point, but I think its more like 50/35 recently), and full upper class is ~15%. I don't know what incomes that would equate as, but say lower middle class would be the 30-50%, middle class as the 50-70, and then upper middle class the 70-85% groups. I'd guess that anything more than a million would probably be in the upper class (maybe it'd be only multi-millionaires with people in the $1-1.5million range being upper middle class?).

The whole song & dance routine about the OK sign is a diversionary troll. It doesn't mean a damned thing. If it was intentional it accomplished that purpose, chumps. Don't hit the shiny object.

This is about the GOP trying to lock down the SCOTUS as an implement of the top down class warfare they've waged on the rest of us since Reagan. They're also trying to lock America down into a reactionary social order.

Kavanaugh is merely a tool for that end.

Absolutely, which is why if these jackasses want to "troll" as white supremacists, I say just plain treat them like they fully are. If they bitch then too fucking bad.

No one is missing out on the issue with Kavanaugh. Well not the people you were talking about in this thread. Their point is, it highlights how fucked Republicans are that they feel enabled to fucking troll with that type of shit during such a situation.

No matter why people vote GOP they need to remember that it comes with more failed trickle down. The rest of the pitch is just preying on hopes & fears.

Sure, but that doesn't mean we should just ignore it, be it great or small, just because there are other issues to be concerned with as well. And like I said, bring back around (its not entirely unrelated despite you claiming its just a mere diversion, I think its literally the same mentality behind doing shit like she did that is behind the shit the Republicans are pulling with Kavanaugh hearings themselves) and show how incredibly fucked up their ideology is top to bottom, so that people who try and hide behind single issues can't ignore that they're enabling a mountain of far worse things.

It’s kind of grey because cost of living means a lot but my thought would be about the 30th percentile to the 80th or so. So basically around $35k a year to $150k. So, the middle 50 percent.

I really think many people on this board do not appreciate how little the median person in the US makes. I live in Brooklyn and the median household income is $50k. It’s why I see houses near me where eight people live in a one bedroom.

I know people think ‘I still worry about money so I must be middle class.’ No, you aren’t. Also, this is a good thing, you should be happy about your success!

it's crazy once you realize how little median income - especially in the more expensive parts of the country, it doesn't take much to get to "more expensive". and god help you if you have a family. and then it all makes sense as to why over 60% of americans live paycheck to paycheck, 40% can't afford a random $400 expense, and why so many people are 1 event away from near financial ruin (medical bills, car repair/failure).

So taking the 85th percentile as being the top of the middle class, I find ~$90k to be 'upper middle class' based on this site: https://dqydj.com/income-percentile-calculator/ The 70th percentile is $58K. I assume these numbers would be higher in major cities.

I any case this is surprising! That makes my estimate of 200k upper class.

Nope, I just hate dishonest posters who spread lies and bullshit and you happen to be the biggest piece of shit on this forum.

Stop lying, stop spreading bullshit, and then we can discuss things like the Republican picks for supreme court.

What make you think I want to discuss anything with a dishonest piece of shit such as you?

LOL

You said:

"So you think that people have a right to disrupt and break the law during a protest?

Do you think that they have a right to interfere with your rights?"

Civil disobedience is the answer.

btw, which of your "rights" did those protestors "interfere with"?

Civil disobedience is breaking the law and they should be arrested. And they were. I never claimed that they interfered with any rights. I only made a separate statement that some asshole wants to make something out of.

I wasn't there, so they didn't interfere with any of My rights.

The Dems specifically left the handling of scotus nominees as it had been for 100 years.

The GOP changed the rules to confirm Gorsuch a scant 2 months into the new congress after snubbing Garland the year before. Dems didin't have time to obstruct much of anything in that time period. That charge is bullshit.

But the Dems cracked the seal by lowering the bar for all others and only left the scotus with the high bar. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

The GOP enjoys that same low bar wrt other judicial nominees. It doesn't justify doing the same thing with the SCOTUS.
The GOP attempted the same thing wrt lower courts back in 2005 & were prevented by a compromise over several nominees.

Will they control a birth?

Yes, they will.

I do agree that they are not contraceptives.

So what? Opposition to Roe is an unspoken litmus test for GOP SCOTUS nominees. Kavanaugh had to pass that test to be sitting in that chair in the first place.

The problem with some people is that they do not understand the distinction between the prevention of pregnancy and the termination of one and Kavanaugh shows he either doesn't or at least doesn't care and we don't need that, at all. Oral contraceptives which prevent pregnancy are not the same as medications and procedures which terminate one. For you or I, not knowing is willful ignorance but with Kavanaugh, ignorance has potentially tragic consequences for a nation that has to live with SCOTUS rulings.

You agreeing with me really doesn't mean much, although it's good you understand, as ignorance takes a seat on the SCOTUS.

And almost as fucked up as those supporting the protesters screaming in the balcony and interfering in our national political processes.
So you didn't watch the proceedings, did you? Didn't see the chair of the committee say that those people are allowed their free speech rights?

An "unspoken litmus test"
Must be fvcking magic!!
Whooo whoooo!
Jhnn has discovered telepathy!!
You have to be a Republican to have it though. Sorry Democrats.

Kavanough's pro-life views are obviously widely known in GOP circles. If you're even intimating that they might set forth a pro-choice nominee you're either lying or delusional. And, uhh, they didn't change the rules to install some centrist conservative who could get 60 votes on the court, either.

I did some further reading about this and it seems that was taken out of context and he was quoting the comments from a religious group’s objection to providing what it called abortion-inducing drugs to its employees.

It has the video with the full statement.

Yes I did watch, and they were hustled out and should have been arrested for disturbing the peace.

They were a much larger problem than the fake bull crap about a white supremacist hand gesture and a troll.

LOL

"We do not have Supreme Court Justices who have lied." - Jill Wine-Banks

Banana republicans think everyone should just settle though, they want to set a new low and complete this partisan corruption of the judicial branch. Both history and political norms don't count now that they control all of government. Unprecedented opportunity for some people to make a stand, looking at you Sasse, Collins, Murkowski. Something John McCain would be proud of I think Sasse said? How about not letting Dump get away with giving himself an out for conspiring with Russia, then obstructing justice? Throw in preserving a woman's right to not have her body and health subject to government control. Hero stuff, surely someone over there is hungry enough to do the right thing.

Except they weren't a problem. They were participating and were allowed to do so under the 1A AND the chair of the committee acknowledged it.

Don't divert with the OK-bullshit. You made this about the protestors and just because you don't like 'em doesn't make what they are doing wrong or not part of the process. Grow up, buttercup.

He wants to make it about anything other than changing the rules to saddle America with a right wing SCOTUS for the next 30 years.

Are you now claiming there's such a thing as centrist conservatives?

As long as they support abortion, ban guns, limit conservative free speech, support legalizing illegal aliens and oppose President Trump on all policies I guess you'd call them centrist conservatives. I'll continue to call them Democrats though and why would a Republican nominate one?

Or you can call them by their actual name; boogeymen.

Even though I’m pro-life, I’m anti-Kavanaugh. He’s a partisan political hack who is pro corporate, pro money-politics who would further presidential power. I think we should be seeing SCOTUS candidates who get 80 votes in the senate. I’m a little miffed that the founders didn’t put a requirement for a 2/3rds majority for SCOTUS candidates in the constitution. What a damn shit show this confirmation has been.

I'm trying to find the entire exchange but after wasting a lot of time no luck so far. Anyone have a link to the entire exchange between Kavanaugh and Cruz?
