Lol...Whelan deleted his insane tweets and is now apologizing. Too late though since Fox and Friends gave the idea a good shout out this morning so you know who saw.

Will be disastrous if (or when really) Trump picks up the thread.

I wonder what that poor guy’s chances are at winning a defamation suit against Whelan. He was just nationally accused of being a rapist based on no evidence. He’s not a public figure either so his protections are considerably stronger.

Looks like the wall Trump's advisors tried to build around his usual behavior and the nomination is starting to crack.

It is a job interview.

If you are the victim of a crime, do you appeal to a hiring manager or to the proper authorities?

If you are a job candidate, is the hiring board the proper forum to face allegations?

Yes this is a “job interview”, but there are nuances unique to a SCOTUS appointment.

Let’s be honest here, there’s no way Kavanaugh is going to be convicted of a crime from all this so I understand why not reporting it to the police today makes sense.

If I knew someone was considering a candidate for a job who I knew to be a sex criminal I would tell them.

As for what the right place is I doubt there is a right place at this point.

I'm no lawyer but it sounds like a decent defamation suit.

Worse probably for Kavanaugh is he will be questioned at length about this defense and his relationship with Whelan/Republican members regarding it.

Gosh, it looks like the cult drive can be as strong and as self destructive as the impulse to rape.

Trump to Ford...

"Why didn't someone call the FBI 36 years ago"?

They still don't get it

Feinstein does not owe an apology to the victim. You are correct that Feinstein tried to honor the wishes of Dr. Ford to remain anonymous.

Feinstein owes an apology to the American people for sitting on this. She had ample opportunity to raise this during the “job interview”.

What? How can she do both?

I started reading through the tweet thread last night and stopped when he started posting floor plans and pictures of staircases. That was some bizarre shit.

Republicans are pigs and disgusting creatures. They have no morals or ethics left to bargain with and should be banned from holding office.

No worries, they'll keep on holding opponents to those standards they themsevles profess but just can't seem to adhere to

Let's say Feinstein brings this up Aug 15, how does that change any conditions in the underlying claim or the reaction from both sides?

'Not an Accident' Kavanaugh's Female Law Clerks 'Looked Like Models,' Yale Professors Advised Students

Advice for female students wanting to clerk for Kavanaugh. Seems to match his high school persona.
Female law students hoping to clerk for Kavanaugh were also told he preferred clerks with a “certain look,” and that candidates should dress “model-like” in order to make a good impression on the influential federal judge.

Trump to Ford again...
I have no doubt that, if the attack on Dr. Ford was as bad as she says, charges would have been immediately filed with local Law Enforcement Authorities by either her or her loving parents. I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!

Uh-oh Trump has now gone off the talking points. Republicans still don't get it.

Trump is essentially saying all those kids who were sexually abused by priests were lying

I have a picture in my head of Trump barricaded in his bathroom tweeting away while the staff tries to break down the door to get his phone away from him.

He was actually getting praised by the evil media for the restraint he had shown up until now. What he demands was what he was getting. And yet here we go.

Now that the dam has broken it will get even uglier.

Republicans are in terrible (and worsening) shape with women and independents. Trump trying to tear this woman down in the public eye could be terminal for the GOP holding the Senate and they still may not get Kavanaugh confirmed. What a fucking mess.

I thought those articles were really bad though. I mean how low have we sunk where it’s newsworthy if the president acts normally.

They shouldn't allow the republicans to use an independent council to question Ford, they need to own this.

This is one of her conditions and I think an extremely legit ask given that that members asked questions directly of people who've testified before it. If the GOP only wants to have a few members ask the questions then fine. The Ds will probably do the same.

It's on Ford's list of requirements for testifying. Republicans wanted to avoid the optics of Ford being grilled by a staff of all old white men. Maybe they should have thought of bringing in women on the judiciary committee years ago. Its was the same makeup for Anita Hill

Well yeah but I didn't say it was something to be proud of. But he was getting some love for not being a complete piece of shit... briefly... on just this specific matter...
