Kaspersky reporting a virus on a Max Payne file (Steam)?

I'm running Kaspersky 2010 with database date 11/23/2010 2:55:00 PM. I'm getting a report of Trojan-PSW.Win32.LdPinch.asqp on the following file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\max payne\testapp.exe

The file is 4.72 MB (4,952,064 bytes) and hasn't been modified since I restored my Steam backup onto my clean OS install. It has to have been scanned dozens of times before, so I'm guessing this is probably a false positive.

Anybody else out there running Kaspersky + Max Payne? I'd love a 2nd opinion.

When the Max Payne games were put on Steam, Rockstar apparently used a NoCD by the warez group Myth. They fixed the mistake after becoming aware of it, and the testapp.exe still contains the Myth code.

It's that hind of code that's causing the false positive.

Looking at my MP Steam folder, I noticed that my MP folder was not set to update automatically and it contained the files when first launched on Steam. I noticed that MaxPayne.exe and testapp.exe are the same size (4.72MB).

I changed the update setting and the game updated the MaxPayne.exe executable, which is now 6.00MB. Why the old testapp.exe remains is beyond me.

Beautiful I'll just let Kaspersky nuke it the next time I reboot then.

Wonder why it took it so long to catch it, it's not like it was a recent change.

Can't believe this story is real because it is way to hilarious for real life lol. I love it! A gaming company using a warez group for their own games! They should think about hiring some of those guys if they really don't know what they are doing. Priceless.
