The problem with Vista, AOL kaspersky and this website have went away. I no longer have the long page load wait I used to.

examples:

http://forum.platespin.com/index.cfm?nocookies=yes
http://forums.amd.com/forum/index.cfm?forumid=1

Those load up very fast while AT continues to crawl.

Then the majority of cases could be isolated to AT. If any of you have the time and are experiencing this problem just on anandtech, try opening your blockable items in Ad-Block plus in firefox, disable one at a time until the problem goes away (if it does) while Kaspersky's realtime protection is running as you normally would run it. That may help isolate the problem.

As Schadenfroh requesrted in the OP, I've posted my info at Kaspersky's forum,

here.

That "Public GSI Parser" they have over there is pretty great.

One thing I notice is the erratic nature of the problem experienced here.

Usually I've been having trouble getting Anandtech web pages to fully load, and to load a 2nd page while one page is forever s l o w l y loading, and trouble in getting post windows to open & trouble submitting posts to the board.

But occasionally it just flies, without any changes on my end.

Odd.

I just installed KIS 7.0.0.125 on my rig, and with all of the default protection enabled this forum is dog slow when I use Firefox, but when I use IE 7 things are snappy. Annoying! :brokenheart:

Schadenfroh , I see that in the start of this thread , you say ZoneAlarm should be removed . Can't ZoneAlarm run together with the KAV , if I want a good firewall capability ? Does the Kaspursky Internet suite have a firewall in it ? If so ,then I would understand it clashing with Zonealarm . Thanks .

Yes, KIS has a top notch integrated firewall that can be set to where it doesn't nag you. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.matousec.com/projects/windows-personal-firewall-analysis/leak-tests-results.php#firewalls-ratings
">Matousec leak-test results</a>.

Notice that ZA free is very poor while the pay version is very good. :)

Thanks for the replies . John , I looked at the Matousek leak-test results - very interesting - however when evaluating a Firewall , I am not quite sure what wieght should be given to leak-test results . Anyone ? They didn,t mention Vista Firewall - would this be similar to XP Firewall ?
Re bqc99's journey - my comment would be - strange but true .

Hi , I'm using KIS version 6.0.2.621, vista 32 and I have set the mail AVscan to low... It has sped up by 2 or 3 times here on AT...

It seems disabling anti banner on kaspersky speeds up anandtech.

To all those who are having issues with loading specific websites and where unticking port80 helps with loading it, try to add it to TrustedZone...click v6...Settings>TrustedZone>TrustedApplications
v7...Settings>Threats&Exclusions>TrustedZone>TrustedApplications
...click Add, browse for the web-browser you use, tick only the "do not scan network traffic" box.
...click the blue "any" on the row which says "at any remote host".
...click "specify" and add the IP address of the site you are having problems with.

To find the IP address of the site you are having issues with, click Start>run... type in cmd... a black box should open up. in there, type in ping [website which does not work]. The IP address of the site is the long set of numbers with 4 decimal points between them.

This worked for me

This worked for me. But the point is, I should not have to do this will a multitude of sites. I love Kaspersky, but this is getting unbearable. I'm still on the 30day free trial and I'm wondering if I should be looking at another AV/Suite for my protection. Thoughts?

This is the main one, but there are a few others.

And a bigger deal to me is that it's saying that a couple of sites (forums) have been forbidden by Kaspersky and they simply won't load unless I turn off protection....

Thoughts on that ?

Please report the problem (with a detailed description of the problem with info listed in the OP) to kaspersky in this thread's sister thread on the Kaspersky forum so they can understand the problem.

I also kept getting a "Kaspersky 7.0 *url here* this address is forbidden.

Did a search and found out that the parental search is defaulted "on". That did the trick. Zero problems since then. Thanks for the lead to their forums.

. . . where unticking port80 helps . . . -XBoxLPU

But Port 80 is the whole world wide web (www) system!!!

Unlocking Port 80 exposes you naked to the whole web, right?

Unless I learn better, I would NEVER open Port 80. Don't do that!

I am bumping this because I am having the same issue. The thread at Kaspersky didnt really help. If i suspend protection Anandtech loads like normal. If I leave it running. It will take 30 seconds for the page to load. Very odd imo.
