The Kaspersky Online Scanner uses Microsoft ActiveX technologies to scan your computer for malicious code. The scanner uses MS Internet Explorer to scan your machine while on-line, and offers the same exceptional detection rates as other Kaspersky Lab products.

also search panda scan and bit defender

panda has been the best as far as i've come across

i use trendmicros's PC-cillian internet security on my home computer though, because it does a decent job and is cheaper than panda

i dunno , i scanned my computer and i didn't see any buttons to disinfect, no malware or viruses though, but when i did the advanced mode it picked up the installer program for wild tangent (bundled in with my logitech software)

and my key finder program

Now is this an actual Anti Virus or just a spyware cleaner or something?

Why is the question.

They all need ActiveX in order to run.

I just ran the Kaspersky one and didn't see an option to clean the virus. It found one .exe file in my temp directory... I just deleted it, but don't think these programs "clean" them.

Can someone verify?

I posted this before, but the more the merrier I guess.

I still like the Housecall scan too, for it's indication of which Windows security updates I lack. It used to even directly link to the MS dl page for each applicable file, but MS nixed 3rd party links, hmm... Anyhow, it still lets you know which bulletin is indicated.

I think they're hoping your next step will be to download and install a trial version, configure & update it, run a scan with it, end up liking it, and become a customer, or at least put their name out there.

Try Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer too, it does that type of stuff and more: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/tools/mbsahome.mspx

Thanks for the heads up. Finally I can run Kaspersky without it punishing me for using NAV.

Ran a full scan last night. No viruses, just some Backdoor.Win32.Agobot.tv stuck somewhere in "System Volume Information"... *phew*
