Man Who Called Ohio's Lockdown Order 'Bullshit' Has Succumbed To COVID-19
John McDaniel railed on social media against Ohio's Gov. Mike DeWine's lockdown order . Weeks later he contracted the virus. A few days ago he died.

In March, John McDaniel called Ohio's shutdown order of non-essential businesses "madness." A few days ago he died.

Now, we don't know the circumstances of how Mr. McDaniel contracted the virus, nor do we know if he took foolish and unnecessary risks. But we do know what he thought of the measures put in place to keep him and the rest of the public as safe as possible. And we all know people who have similar opinions to those that McDaniel expressed on social media. If there's any good to come from his death, let it be that people take those measures more seriously. They're there for a reason.

MARION — A Marion County man diagnosed with the coronavirus in late March has died.
OhioHealth officials confirmed Thursday that John W. McDaniel, 60, Marion, died at 1:34 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was receiving treatment for the COVID-19 virus at Riverside when he passed away.

McDaniel is survived by his wife and children. He was the president of the O&M Company in Marion.

Marion Public Health confirmed that the county had its first confirmed COVID-19 related death, but did not disclose the deceased's identity.
“On behalf of the entire Marion County community, we express our deepest sympathies to his family and friends,” Marion Public Health Commissioner Traci Kinsler said in a press release issued Wednesday. “Our thoughts go out to the Marion County community, as well as all Ohioans, and those across the world battling this illness and the families of everyone affected by this pandemic.”

Not wishing this on anyone but if someone had to die from this he was a good candidate. Only problem is that the right wing media would never air this so only the left will see it and they already consider it a real threat.

Op is right, its called the Three-fold Law with what i believe. 🙂 All i got for yas. Blessed be!

Freedom is, has been, should always be finite. In an ever more crowded world, this imperative need not even involve government as a factor. But this is the flaw in conservative philosophy. The philosophy implies that giving a few people enormous and unlimited freedom -- perhaps given their wealth and resources -- is a good thing regardless of what they do with that freedom to other people or society in general.

You should not have the freedom to infect me or my family with a potentially deadly virus. You should not be allowed to run around infecting other people. You can practice your religion, but not in a way that endangers the health of others on Monday after practicing your rituals in close proximity to others on Sunday.

As for "social Darwinism", it is another paradox of illogic in conservative thinking. Evangelicals recoil at the word "evolution", and they also recoil at the word "random" as a factor in evolution. Yet, conservatives want to increase the uncertainty of the proverbial Jungle in regulated civilization. They regard uncertainty and risk as "healthy".

I suppose, in this case or similar cases, their stupidity combines with their thoughtless behavior as an evolutionary imperative, even though they're likely to take a few more with them as they die of COVID-19 and become extinct.

If we didn't have to do business with them, if we didn't have to bump into them in the supermarket, they should be encouraged to say their prayers together on Sunday, go out and demonstrate over the lock-down without wearing PPE or masks, and open up their little shithole businesses in their flyover shithole states to draw in more people who will then become infected.

But since governments are supposed to protect everyone, no matter how stupid they are, my own sense of it also demonstrates some illogic in that regard. So -- either lock-em'-down, or lock-em'-up.

I guess it's a good thing that you have this dead fellow to justify your point of view.

Good riddance. Need this to happen more. It will take more tragedy to the idiots who think lock downs are dumb, only them getting horribly sick or losing one of their loved ones is a strong enough wake up call.

I think the above mentioned card with a shirt that marks you as well so others will know to shun and avoid you. Don't wear said shirt/vest and infect someone i think that person should be held accountable. Good chance they will die before answering perhaps but still these people need clearly identifying marks right?

Speaking of karma, there was a bar/restaurant owner here in the Milwaukee area that vocally announced he was going to open on May 1st in direct defiance of the Governor's Stay at Home order. Needless to say, it did not end up well for him. He's been a loud mouth online for years and certainly since COVID-19. All those posts (several painfully racist) were dug up and it spread line wildfire around here. Not to mention his criminal record was dug up and he has several past, and some pending court cases - including domestic abuse. The guy is a real piece of work and his quite popular restaurants are going to now go down in flames.
