I tell everyone to buy a Mac, so that they can go to the Apple store with their problems.

DON'T CALL ME BITCHES.

I break computers for free and no one ever bothers me again.
Also stopped telling people I build my own systems.

I will only work on the computers in my house. I learned this lesson the first time I tried to help out a friend, and to let you know how long ago that was, it was a PCjr I was trying to fix.

Wait till you find out she is actually a computer genius and just wants you to come over and fuck your brains out so you get involved in a huge love triangle to which you end up dead thus creating a movie deal to which Hollywood ends up making all the money.
That's really funny. Her husband is a retired politician suspected of corruption many years ago. I wouldn't risk it.

Edit: I went to her house again, saw that she only had 400 MB of files in her my documents folder. Back up to flashdrive, run MSI's OS restore utility, some more easy money :D

I do volunteer work in nursing homes occasionally and I have to be careful. I usually provide instruction on pcs that are owned by the facilities and are maintained by their IT staff. Sometimes a resident will have a laptop of their own and they ask if I can take a look because it has a problem. This has to be refused in a firm manner because these oldsters think if you help them once that they own you forever.

I think it's just that they know someone who can get things done so that's who they go to.

My default answer is I work on servers and don't have a clue how to fix everyday computer problems. Total bullshit but it works.

Got tired of my Mom constantly getting spyware/malware and breaking shit over and over and expecting me to explain to her how to fix it over the phone from another state.

Finally convinced her to get a Mac and pay for the one on one support and it's the best thing ever.

She never has shit randomly breaking and if she does I say "make a appointment with your one on one support at the local store".

I am happy to give advice and instruction, but computer repairs must be done by someone who does it for a living and is willing to back up his service.

Sounds to me like you shouldn't have been dicking around on reddit and instead should have been installing software to broadcast live images from their webcam to ATOT. :colbert:

That's exactly what I was thinking.

LOL!

I , and most others here, know exactly what you're talking about.

You knew the consequences, took a gamble, and lost.

Somebody's gotta do it and I hope it turns out to be a money-maker. :)
