Anybody try this? We have the "Music Mixer" thing but a limited songs. The selection at the official site sucks. I think the MM allows regular Karaoke CDs (whatever that is), but I'm a no0b when it comes to this stuff, so I don't know where to begin looking.

Heh, two "Mo"'s reply. Just goolge'd KR and it looks interesting. I may go get it. But, for the moment, I'll take more info (on KR and my original question). I'd really like to dig-up some old 80s classics (I think I could do a mean Young MC "Bust a Move")..

I've played this on PS2 and it is indeed a great game. Perfect for dinner party entertainment. We ended up keeping the party at the house instead of going out after a couple of bottles of wine and Karaoke Revolution on the tube.

As far as I know, the Xbox only has one volume out, while the PS2 has 3 volumes out. In the third, they introduce duet singing as well as singing competitions. I've only got vol 1, but after you get over the initial embarrassment of singing in front of people, well.. you're having a grand ole tyme.

I'm a musician and have sung a little in public before so I plan to PWN if I get this game. :D OTOH that singing has been part of a choir... yikes!

Well, you guys pretty much have me convinced to get it. Now, back to the original question: can I use karaoke CDs? (and what exactly are they, where to get them, etc?)

Edit: Is it just me or does the MM mic suck?

Yep, xbox only has 1 edition but with more songs. I played vol. 3 of PS2 but we only had 1 mic :( And it doesn't matter if you can sing or not, you have to sing on their key, not yours. I found that out the hard way on 'Love Shack'.

I've noticed that with the MM. Apparently most male vocalists are in the tenor range because for me, a bass, it takes a wedgie to sing in their range (and an octave below sounds, well, lame, most of the time).

Edit: does the Xbox version require two mics?!?

Ha! I found out from Xbox Scene that the Music Mixer does not technically play Karaoke CDs. There is, however, *cough* a way to get them to work. Unfortunately, my box is not *cough* equipped for such a task.

Anyway, I picked-up a copy of Karaoke Revolution today. Thanks for help, folks! (BTW, KR lets you use the Communicator headset as well as a mic, wo0t!)
