Hey guys, I was just curious as to if I were to obtain a Singstar PS2 game, how could I either obtain a Microphone to use with it, or find an aftermarket Mic that would work just as well.

Any info on this?

And are these games any fun? Any of you guys played them?

I know that Guitar Hero is quite fun, so I thought this might be as well.

I dunno about SingStar, but Karaoke Revolution uses those Logitech USB microphones for PS2. The SOCOM USB headsets work as well.

Karaoke Revolution will work with any PS2 compatible headset or one of the mics designed for it or Get On Da Mic.

Singstar requires it's own specific mic setup. It's a USB connector that turns into two microphone jacks, plus two very large and nice mics.

It's not possible to acquire Singstar in a store without the mics, so...

I have Karaoke Revolution 1-3, but I can only enjoy them alone, as I am a terrible singer, regardless of what the pitch score gives me. Aside from them being music games by Harmonix, they're not really similar to GH. Frequency and Amplitude are more like GH.

I have the Logitech PS2 headset and mic - both work fine with Karaoke Revolution. I have no idea whether they work with Singstar also.

The reviews on Amazon complain that the Singstar mics are proprietary and incompatible with Karaoke Revolution. After reading those negative reviews, I decided against buying it.

I guess I didn't state it clearly enough. Singstar does only work with the mics that it comes with, which are not compatible with any other microphone or headset games.

Thanks for that info.

It looks from the reviews that Karaoke Revolution is better according to the reviews anyhow.

And as to the question about not being able to buy it without the Mics... You can buy others like Singstar 80's etc without Mics I thought...

According to its Wikipedia article, SingStar originated as a Sony Computer Entertainment Europe franchise. Only SingStar Rocks! has been released in the US - any other versions would be for other regions. I assume that the mic-less releases require the prior ownership of an earlier release and its mics.

Sorry, I was giving info related to the US releases since you have your country listed as US in your profile.
