Kanye's Production is GREAT.

I've ignored his latest album My Beautiful Dark Twisted for a long time. Just listened to it today expecting total shit.

The production alone just makes it worth listening. Wow.

I listened to this up until 1:06 not expecting anything and then the beat at 1:07 kicked in:

Yes, Kanye's lyricism isn't top notch but you can't deny the guy's production genius. He made a smart move by using RZA who's a genius in his own right for this album.

Haters gonna hate

I think he's catapulted himself to the league of RZA/Premier/Stoupe/Dre/Pete Rock/Large Professor.

I haven't listened to the album, but I haven't read a bad review of it. And most of the reviews I read said it was flawless and up there with the best albums ever. Rolling Stone gave it a 5/5, as did pretty much every media outlet that reviewed it.

The praise was definitely a bit excessive.

I was about to flame this, but alas, the seas are vast, and I have no time for you landlubbers :whiste:

I avoided this album because I figured it would be like that shitpiece that he dropped last. I'm actually pretty surprised, the songs are very well put together, but the lyrics are balls.

Kanyes overrated and he is 100% douchebag. I'll continue listening to other artists thank you.

Imma let you finish and all but Kornroe West is conceited and self centered. He doesnt care about white people. Everyone knows this.

The biggest shame of Kanye's fame as a rapper, even beyond the fact that he's a giant douche, is that he doesn't produce 24/7 for hire. He is SO much better a producer than an MC.

I listened to it even though I hate the hell out of rap/hip hop because everyone said it was the greatest thing to ever be made ever.

It was absolute shit.

Jesus. I've never heard anything from him even remotely listenable that wasn't directly attributable to the artists he "sampled" from (ripped off, IMO). I don't care if they performed together later on, "Stronger" took advantage of the fact that most of his fans had never heard Daft Punk and then his poorly done attempt at a frame-by-frame reproduction of Akira scenes with HIMSELF replacing Tetsuo (a being of ultimate power) was the last bit of ego-stroking I could tolerate. Duplicating as exactly as you can with notable limitations preventing you from even reaching close to the original's "cool factor" isn't creativity. Not a single bit of originality other than his terrible lyrics, like "You can be my black Kate Moss tonight." OK, so Kate Moss is some benchmark of beauty to compare black women to and it means so much to them that YOU chose to compare them to her? Mother fu--in' *swoon* 🙄 MORE ego-stroking? SRSLY?!

First off, he always was one of the best producers (and you forgot The Alchemist and 9th Wonder on that list). However, his rapping on this album is pretty dam weak and he really should just stick to producing. WTB punchlines better than <...blackball me? Y'all forgot about two things, my black balls!> FML

Gorgeous had nothing impressive (so so beat, weak lyrics), All of the Lights was a waste of a good beat with lame flow/lyrics/subject (even Rianna can't save him here), Higher was original but boring lyrics and dumb fcking autotuned hook is just stupid. Anyone who needs to use autotune to sell records should be shot on sight, but just my personal preference.

Maybe the "critics" that are giving this 5/5 haven't been listening to hiphop since the 80's (LL/RAKIM/BDKane) and are easily impressed, I'm not. These songs can't hold a candle to any classic hiphop album (Paid in Full, It's a Big Daddy Thing, Walking With a Panther, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, Low End Theory/Midnight Marauders, Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, The Chronic, All Eyez On Me, Ready to Die/Life After Death, Doggystyle, 36 Chambers, etc).

I never said the album itself holds a candle to the classic hip hop albums. His lyricism is too weak but the production is insane

The glitch at 0:15 and 4:20 on 'So Appalled' (which sounds like a copy/paste) where the word 'air' is spoken, they cut off the end of it and it's really irritating once you hear it.
