Typical Anandtech response of anything rap automatically sucks. I thought people here listening to music and it's not like Swift is anything special at all. Her type of songs/voice are a dime a dozen. Every year you hear a new one of her. Both are fine and I could care less about either but if it's rap all you guys automatically think it sucks which is funny cus the rock music all of you love, people were saying the exact same thing about it before.

There's no justifying the fact that Kanye West majorly sucks. His "song" at the end of the VMAs was pitiful beyond anything I've ever heard. I wouldn't even consider it a "rap song". If you haven't heard it go find it on youtube. He is everything that is wrong with pop-rap music.

So you're condemning someone that has a vast library, is critically acclaimed, and has multiple Grammy's because of one song?

i used to like taylor swift but ever since i heard her sing live and realized how much she sucked, i stopped being a supporter.
 
I think Kayne will win in the end. Not in terms of raw talent but who's remembered in the long term. The problem is he'll be remembered as a dickhead with a giant ego. Also thanks to Kayne Taylor Swift will forever be the girl that Kayne dissed at an awards show.

So you don't dispute his talent, just his persona? He's an asshole, always has been. And that wasn't the first time that he's burst onto a stage and made an ass of himself or the first time that he's even interrupted someone else giving an acceptance speech.

This is the same guy that said that George Bush doesn't care about black people.

But once Taylor gets involved, now EVERYONE comes out of the woodwork.

To tell you the truth, I like A LOT of different musical artists, and a lot of different actors. If I spent my life demeaning them for their antics that don't involve their given trade (acting, singing, rapping, etc), I'd have few movies to watch and even less music to listen to.

Just sampled some of their music at youtube and I don't see what the appeal is. But Taylor Swift is hot and West seems like a douchebag, so I vote Swift.

You must've missed the part where I said I wasn't a fan of Taylor Swift.

I believe Kanye West called himself a douchebag, among other things, in his song, "Runaway", that he performed at the closing of this years VMAs. Anyone is going to have to argue with the man himself if they think he isn't a douchebag. Hell, that song should get a grammy on lyrics alone! 😛 But seriously, it was an awful song. Have you heard it?

My point is, I don't care about the persona, I care about the product. Mel Gibson is a douchebag, but I still like most of his movies. Jay-Z used to sell drugs; I still like his music. Michael Jordan is an egotistical, douchebag among all douchebags and by all accounts, always has been -- he's still the greatest BBall player of all time to me.

Meh, I don't like him or his music so your theory doesn't apply for this. I only voted for Taylor over him because she's not an asshole.
 
Both are great. Early Kanye was great. I liked his first 3 albums a lot, and I've been to his concert. I'm not even that big on hip hop and rap. Taylor Swift's music appeals to me more, but she's just not that interesting.

Kanye's songs are relevant and his older albums worked great in clubs and parties. BTW, Taylor Swift isn't that good of a singer either. She's mediocre. Sure she can sing a hell of a lot better than Kanye, but it's not that big. I think Gaga can probably sing better, and there's tons of people on Youtube who do covers in front of their own computer who can sing better.

He won 3 Grammys, and I doubt they were all for the same song. But if they were that must be a DAMN good song. Calling him a one song wonder shows your ignorance, every song he puts out pretty much goes to the top of the charts. I wouldn't be surprised if he won another Grammy when his next album comes out. He might be an idiot, but that has nothing to do with him being one of the biggest stars in music. Kanye has 4 platinum albums, and his shitty cry baby attitude will keep people interested in him. Taylor has 2 albums, I think she doesn't have much more left in her. She's not that great of a singer, and unlike Kanye doesn't have a memorable personality. People will forget about her after her next album. Kanye will still be around because he's always doing something to one up his stupidity level which will keep him in peoples minds. The ironic thing about what you said, outside of the Country charts Swift has never had a #1 single. Kanye has had 3 of them. And more top 10 on the main charts than Swift. One song wonder?
