The Good
It can occasionally be fun to play

The Bad
It feels very synthetic. Combat can get repetitive.

Story
You play as a girl named Kameo, a young princess. Her older sister, Kalus, is furious that she is being overlooked as the rightful heir to the throne because Kameo is getting a lot the attention. Kalus decides to awaken Thorn, a powerful troll who had been sealed away for a long time, and kidnaps her family except Kameo.

Kameo alone doesn?t have enough power to defeat Thorn and Kalus, so she goes out searching for all ten Elemental Warriors before taking them on.

Gameplay
The game feels synthetic. It?s like it tries too hard to create its own distinct personality by trying to be many things at the same time. It tries to be magical, cute, epic, dramatic? I could probably keep going, but the point is that these things don?t mesh well and are overdone.

This game uses puzzles during combat. For instance, you have to figure out how to destroy the next obstacle of monsters. There is a puzzle associated with lowering the enemy?s guard before you can attack him. Sounds interesting, but when you?ve already figured it out, it?s tedious to fight the same enemy again and again because you have to keep switching to one character to defeat the puzzle and make the enemy lower his guard, and then switch to another character to beat his ass.

Combat can get repetitive because you?ll get this new elemental warrior for this level, and then you?ll continue to use him throughout the level. In this particular instance, this elemental warrior sucked at combat. So I switched to him to disarm the enemy and then I switched to the elemental warrior who?s good at fighting. And even that elemental warrior only had one or two moves that I kept doing over and over. The good thing is that the dungeons are short, so by the time the combat gets repetitive, you?re almost done.

Sometimes, the controls can get in the way. I?ve died a few times because of them. They also make the game less fun to control or view. It just doesn?t move the way you?d expect it to.

Graphics
The graphics may have been great when the XBOX 360 first came out, but not so much anymore. Kameo herself looks a little blocky to me, while other characters might not. The world actually looks very plain most of the time.

The only things that I felt looked next-gen were the lighting, and at times, the number of objects on the screen was impressive. Although we may not have seen it often, most of the other special effects in the game have been shown before on the XBOX. Special effects such as tall grass waving in the wind, and sometimes you?ll see some good textures.

When you turn into an Elemental Warrior, you can see that Kameo is inside and it looks stupid, because it looks like she?s riding a machine. I don?t see what the point of that was. The warriors? personality would have come out much better if Kameo wasn?t in my mind the whole time.

Grade: C
I only beat about 50% of this game. The problem is that, at this point in the XBOX 360?s life, there are better games out there to spend my time on.

i find humor in that fact that you just posted a review to a game that has been out for over a year. :D

Older games can be just as fun to play, and a lot easier on the pocketbook.
I still love playing Burnout: Revenge all the time, playing online is great. It would be even better if EA's servers didn't suck so much.

Exactly. Many people wait till games get to $30 or less before buying them. This review is for them.

I enjoyed Kameo a lot when I played it, but I felt that most of the transformations were just tacked on to do one task. I found myself using the same 3 transformations over and over. Impressive display of the 360's horsepower in the central area though, when I first came upon that battle... wow. I was actually blown away. Now, you're right... there are better games to play but its still a good game. I'd give it a B-.

I liked the game when I played it and think it still looks pretty damn good. It plays well enough and for the price (should be 20 bucks or even less on ebay) I think its a fine buy. I would give it a B and hope a sequel that is more expansive is made.
