It's already in their AM talking points. Heard it from Donalds/Rubio and one other.
I think you guys may misunderstand. F course they are going to lie about this but who cares? Is the idea that they were going to be restrained but now that they decided to lie about a mandate that changes things?

I don't think anyone would call this a mandate unless we've defined that word out of existence. I mean did Biden have a mandate?
I think Republicans winning the popular vote by a wide margin could be considered a mandate. Of course, what that mandate is (fix the economy) is widely different from what Republicans will interpret it as (deport/tariff/roll back civil rights/full abortion ban/etc.)

I get your point, but based on the current results I wouldn't say that they're lying about it (assuming no shenanigans). It's pretty clear that a large # of our fellow citizens want exactly this.

Did you consider Biden to have a mandate in 2020? I don’t remember anyone saying that.

So? He can cram them in there if he wants. Official act.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to argue here. Housing people in prisons is more expensive than camps. Period.

Yes though, he could simply have them all killed with an official act if he wanted.

The Constitution is just paper if it's not enforced, just like every other law. Trump can literally say 'I'm suspending the Constitution, either I or Vance will be king of America from now on' and if nothing happens the next day, it's as concrete as the foundations of the Earth.
Nah, California would surely defect. Probably NY as well. You'd have major revolts and riots. Civil war for sure.

Really, we'll see what happens but the US survived his last administration.

TBD. Mail in California is going to take a while. A one or two seat majority for either party however spells great difficulty for probably everything that isn't a tax deal.
Says something when another 2-year lame duck slide into death by climate change looks like our savior.

I think we are about to bear witness to the largest episode of "I've made a huge mistake" in my lifetime.
What pisses me off about this is the only positive thing I could think about us voting for Brexit was "well shit, at least everyone else can take this as an example of what not to do in the voting booth". The fact that we politically shot ourselves in the dick isn't even taken as an example of what not to do by other countries somehow makes it worse!

Probably. And I do recall it being used. Not that it's something our side really leans on like this populist schtick from the right.

Executive action is powerful, not not unlimited. Trump does not become king merely because the SCOTUS said his official actions are immune from prosecution. That does not make the USA a full-on monarchy.
Rules don't mean anything when those who should be upholding them don't.

That is how Trump has run roughshod over a whole bunch of laws already.

Ask yourself: *when* Trump pulls his latest blatantly illegal act, who's going to make sure he gets held accountable?

Camps would be too costly to build so instead we will choose an even costlier option?
I mean they'll be more costly for the tax payer. It'll be a straight transfer of funds from the middle and lower class to prison owners. Rich people will get richer, poor people will get poorer, more "undesirables" will be incarcerated.
That sounds like it'll go exactly how Republicans like it!

You think Americans follow politics outside of the US? Lol they don’t even follow politics inside the US!

I really don't think people voted for him because of what he said he would do since so much was absurd nonsense and he didn't do most of what he said last time. I think it was more the idea of what he will end up being allowed to do that was so appealing. Going to be a long couple decades for you guys...
They would have gotten the same precious policies without all the racism, corruption and Criminality. Nikki Haley would have fit that profile. Why not nominate her?

Did I just flush out the so called policy rationale?

Ding ding ding.

Democracies and rules only work when people believe in a core set of governing norms. Republicans decided to throw half of that out the window long ago. Trump and what we see today is just the culmination of those tactics.
