I worked for the US Civil Service, and carried my FEP private group insurance into retirement, since I was too young for Medicare when I retired. I haven't switched to Medicare except for part A, which is free. My wife has had a lot of medical issues this past year, probably would have been hundreds of thousands without insurance. Between the private insurance and Medicare part A to pick up hospital deductible expenses, i have only had to pay a few thousand (less than 5K for sure) for all this. Considering what is happening now, I am glad I kept the private insurance, although it has become painfully expensive (900.00 per month next year, the premium went up over 100/month). If Harris had won, I was planning to switch totally to Medicare, but wont now. In fact, I am even concerned that if Medicare gets eliminated or severely gutted, private insurance will increase even more steeply in price and cut benefits.
Does your current private plan qualify you to sign up for Part B w/o the deferred enrollment penalty?

So you’ve actually paid $10,800 + <5k? That sounds horrible.

Yep, for my wife and myself. I did find out I can switch to a "self +1" plan instead of a family plan that would save about a hundred dollars per month.

Considering many people on Medicaid cannot work, at all, he can fuck right off.

Maybe he should stop being a talking head on TV and get a 'real job' where he can contribute to society, yeah?
The incoming Trump admin wants to follow through on what they were going to do if elected in 2020 and that’s redefine disability and what qualifies. Their plan is to remove a lot of people of the disability rolls.

Furthermore, I’m pretty sure the transition team was hoping to get 10% of the on social security retirement back into the workforce.

They are coming for SS, Medicare, Medicaid and Disability.

Medicaid will get gutted by block grants and allow states to do what ever they want. The list of disabilities will shrink. SS will be converted to whatever their most recent hare brained idea is, but it will only effect retires from Gen Exers. But fuck gen exers they mostly voted for Trump.

Obviously it is Democrats fault when birds catch the Avian flu. Surprise, surprise eggs prices wont matter come Jan-20th.

Why the price of eggs is on the rise again
An update on the situation:

The US egg-laying hen flock was down 3% in October from the year prior, or 315m birds, and egg production was down 4%, according to the US Department of Agriculture

The latest consumer price index, or CPI, shows that the price of eggs is up 37.5% from a year ago. Food prices overall rose 2.4% over the same period.

Then it wouldnt be a democracy. As it turns out America on average may not be at a literary capacity that can actually sustain a democracy. And that sucks. It is what it is.

Amazingly, the exit polls showed a large number of Trump voters thought they were "saving democracy". Ironically, so did Harris voters. Trump voters thought they were saving the democracy from the leftist, communist democrats who were going to let our country be overrun with criminals and illegal aliens and perverted the justice department to persecute their enemies. The Dems thought they were saving democracy from a Facist criminal wannabe dictator. An amazing dichotomy. Somehow I think I democracy will still survive, even though it looks like we will be ruled by rich egomaniacs for a few years. Hopefully by the midterms the voters will have realized they made a terrible mistake and the Dems can take back one or both houses of congress, and the presidency in 2028.

It does seem relevant though that one side was correct.

And OMG shocking that the majority of voters for POTUS were so completely ignorant of the facts.
It’s one of those things I see a lot and it always annoys me. There’s so many times where you hear ‘but Republicans believe X’ when X is an obvious lie.

It’s certainly important to combat the right wing peopaganda networks that promote these lies and the fact that people believe them is in fact a problem, but it should always be discussed in context of ‘how do we combat lies’ and not that this is simply a difference of opinion.

End stage capitalism/democracy when the billionaire class simply buys up media to the point where they control the truth.
It's fucked up, it's where we are at. From Fox, Sinclair to Facebook and X, the war on reality has been won.
Where to go from here? Shit.

How? Where? To any meaningful degree, where is this supposed to happen?

Dude, I am not enabling anybody, just stating what the polls said. The Dems need to somehow combat Fox/X and the other rightwing propoganda, AND they need to refine/re-emphasize their message to get in touch with the working middle class and the rural voters.

Just a matter of time when this will move to humans in a big way. Vaccine? RFK Jr. will work this out for us.

There is not much more valuable in life than the ability to discern honesty, sincerity, truth, fact from deception, prevarication, lies and prejudice.

It's really all out there and plain to see but the responsibility rests with each person to sharpen their awareness. It's not easy. It's something you have to develop and work on continuously.
