Anyone seen it? Watched it for the first time tonight on my computer and i've gotta say this is the prettiest thing i've seen on the screen since....ever?! It's that good. Forget about the matrix, japanimation and Toy story 2. This film tops all. Just speaking of the graphics mind you. The story was alright too. EXtemely highly recommended for anyone who loves eyecandy.
It really fealt like the game i've always wanted to see and play but they haven't got around to creating yet.

No it doesn't and no you can't judge it by the clips on the website. It's simply must been seen at full quality. Hey i liked final fantasy but this is taking it to the next level. Easily worth a $3 rental at your local blockbuster.

Game? Thats a movie. I wouldnt be so hasty and knock every other movie out of contention. Yes, the making posses a strong use of lighting, but the humans renders look unpar with everything else. When I was an art major, my animation teach told us that its real easy to CGI bugs, aliens, and robots. But doing humans and dogs are extremely tough. Ever wonder why the dog in Toy Story 1 looked so horrible when compaired to everything else? Because its tough to make it look right. Final Fantasy did humans better than anyone else has done via CGI. No contest.

I'm not saying this doesnt look cool, it actually looks interesting. But, when you said best looking since....well, "ever!". I had to stop ya. ;)

I didn't say it was a game warcrow, only that it fealt like one. "better" is relative. I think you mean realistic and realistic is only one area to shoot for when it comes to animation. Take halflife2 and doom3 for example. Doom3 easily looks more realistic but does it look better? That's a matter of opinion. This movie looks fantastic and shouldn't be missed by any graphics junkies. That's the only point i'm trying to make.:)

Well...i don't know about the faces but from the majority of what i've seen of HL2 there's simply no comparison. It looks damn good...but not realistic.

Anyways, that besides the point. If you love the idea behind this movie and can't wait to see it, cool. :)-

Thats cool and all, but I think when doing that kind of capture, you lose the artist interpitation of whats going on. That type of capture technique is very very good for animations, but what about stylized art?

It was still cool to watch. :)

Maybe not as artistic as making it from scratch, but who's to say artist can't use it as a base and manipulate the figure to retain believable human features?

That was interesting joeking. Humans are the most complex i think because we're used to looking at them so our eye knows just exactly what a human face should look like. Monsters and robots are easier since we haven't actually seen any we don't have any preconceptions as to what they look like and the eye will therefor accept a less perfect less detailed creature as real.
