Hey all. My 1st post and all, nice forum you have here

I see that there seems to be quirte a few posts about, people having issues with Nforce3 boards.. if only I had checked this forum before purchasing... anyway, I was hoping that someone could give me some advice on how to proceed here.

System:

MSI K8n Neo2 Platiunum
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ factory fan
1gb of Corsair Twinx1024-3200C2 Ram running 200mhz, 1T, at 2.5-3-3-6
Evga Geforce 6800 GT 256mb
Western Digital 36gb 10k Raptor SATA HDD running on 3
Standard CD-R running on Primary Master..
XP Home Sp2
and an Enermax 420w Noistaker PSU

Agressive Timing BIOS options is on, but NOTHING is overclocked or running out of spec.
All hardware, memory, temperatures, everything check out fine.
All latest system, bios and mobo drivers are running.
I'm very sure i dont have any heat issues.

The problem is, 2 times in this 1st month of owning this setup, ive crashed to a blue screen, and the boot sector of my HDD has been corrupted. I then get the 'Invalid sytem disk' error at POST, and have to reinstall XP. The last time it happened, was when I was running the system optomization wizard on Sandra, so something obviously doesn't like being stressed. I have run Sandra sucessfully many times, and everything checks out ok 98% of the time.

I must also note, that even setting it to automatically dynamic clock at 1% (private) results in POST instability and serious lock ups. STill, games such as doom3 and far cry, though while not necessarily getting quite the frame rates id expect, generally run very well with no lock ups.
I do not find my settings to be unreasonable agressive, so im a bit upset at the issues im having.

I hesitate to reinstall everything for the 3rd time this month, and thought id ask some advice on how to proceed 1st.

So is the nforce3 chipset a dog... far to agressively optomized for performance over the Via chipset, and thus too unstable..... the reason why ASUS, ABit, and others have not released any Nforce3 chipset based boards?

Are there IDE and SATA HDD problems that could explain why my HDD keeps getting wasted?

Or is the board generally stable, and I probably just have a bad one?

Would anyone thus recommend me to get a a replacement K8n Neo2 Platinum MOBO for the one i already have?

ANy feedback, ideas, and advice greatly appreciated.. CHeers guys
