I know tons of these posts are around. But i just cant make up my mind. Should i get the SL-K8TPro-939 or K8N Neo2 Platinum... I know most people here probably dont like VIA but seems this Soltek Board is pretty good.... Im gonna be using a 3000+ with this probably.... Is the MSI worth the extra $20?

Thanks for any info

The Soltek is a solid performer. Take a look at this article posted today.

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2301&p=7

It includes benchmarks of these two boards. Scroll through the pages and you'll see that the Soltek is faster than the MSI board in several benchmark tests. When the MSI board wins, the Soltek is not far behind. One thing I like about the Soltek is that it has a passive chipset heatsink, which will make your system run quieter. I'm on a silence kick at the moment and am trying to get my PC to run quieter. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably get this board instead of my K8N NEO2 for just that reason.

wat about the asus A8V? it has passive northbridge cooling and is a better overclocker then the soltek.

they're all pretty stable. asus is known for its stability more then for its overclocking. soltek is also stable but it doesnt overclock much, and i dont think it has a printer port

That mobo doesn't have a parallel port. A lot of new printers use USB connections instead. So, unless you're using an older printer that doesn't support USB you'll be OK. Check your printer.

Soltek no question.

Soltek is a good manufacturer. stuff is always solid.
MSI is nothing more than a gamble, might work, might not.

Soltek rules. I love my K8AN2E-GR

This is really a question of you wanting a Via K8T800 or NForce3 Ultra chipset as well. I would have opted for the nForce due to its OC ability, but if you're looking for stability and stock perf. it could be another issue.
