Hey, I just rebuilt my system with an AMD 64 3000+ and a K8N Ne2-F Mobo adneverything goes really smooth except the computer won't recognize the Ethernet controller.
It will say "Found new hardware" installing driver's blah blah. But then another tghing pops up and say error there is a problem with this device and it will not function properly. I go to Control Panels/System/Hardware/Device MAnger etc and go to network adapters. It has displayed there "Nvida nforce Network Controller" with a yellow circle over it with an explamation point in the circle. I open it and it says no device friver's installed. I try to install them and it says it can't becuase it shares a service with something else.

I installed the regular driver's that came with the mobo and it did nothing tried manulally finding a driver. but I can't find out whhat contrioller it actually is. any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the novel its just that Im pissed that my LAN dosn't work out of the box. And I havn't flashed any bios and it is enabled in the bios the LAN.

your board probably came with 1.9 bios, which messed up the mac address for onbard nvidia network. you can either enter the address in your bios, or in the network adapter properties.

the mac address for your board can be found on a sticker that is on the top inside portion of the parallel connector. go into the bios and hit Shift+F2, then hit Alt+F3 which will reveal an extended list of settings, and in one of the menus you should see nvidia mac address as an option. enter the number found on the sticker.

or you can go into device manger/network adapters, nvidia nforce controller right click select properties, click on the tab labeled 'advanced' then from the list select network address, there are two options one has a field to enter the MAC address, the other option says 'not present' type the address in the first option

I'm going through the same thing with this board but neither of these fixes seem to work for me- Should I try flashing to a different BIOS or? Any Ideas? Ver 1.9 BIOS now. Seems like a common problem according to Newegg reviews.
